All I can say is that nothing has arrived, it just gets really frustrating when you don't get as much as a response to your email, even if it was just a holding type response it would be better than nothing. This has been to 3 different email addresses. I have to admit I didn't realise the email address I was using was yours or I would have PM'd you on here.

Glad somebody is getting some joy with J.O., I've sent 5 or 6 emails over the last 2 months and still not got so much as a response - really dissappointing

Have to admit I'm looking forward to seeing one of these in the 'flesh' certainly looks the dogs in the photo's. Interesting to see how its handling compares with the other prowlers

Sorry for yet another question about fishfinders, but I'm ashamed to say mine has been sitting in the wardrobe for the last 6 or so months and I'm just going to have to fit it.
Its a Matrix 17 and its going on a RAM mount with a cable gland into the hull, does it matter how close the fishfinder, battery and tranducer are or do they not interfere with each other anyway? Also where's best for tranducer front, middle or back? Transducer is getting stuck on with Marine Goop, - Americans seem to swear by the stuff! Option B is to fit it in a water bath idea i saw on one on the USA sites, but I can't work out the easiest way to cut a piece of pipe to the inside shape of the hull??

Well someone posted not so long ago about being careful that you don't lose the standie up bit that comes with the C Tugg - first time out after reading it and I've lost the leg that you use to stand it up while you load the kayak
Does anyone know if you can buy them seperately anywhere? Emailed Johnson Outdoors but unusually for them I've had no response.Cheers

Sorry Jerseytrev, but i've gotta disagree, if it had been nearly anyone else who'd posted that whistling smiley thing ( which I'm not clever enough to include) it wouldn't have got the same reaction? Even I knew why he'd posted it. I could be getting hold of the wrong end of the stick but as I see it, the arguement in this thread and the one over the Bics is to do with people posting and expressing opinions / advice when they have a vested commercial interest.
I could be wrong but with the best will in the world when someone has got their own money involved then it is impossible to relay an unbiased view.
To qualify the above - thats just my opinion I don't know any of the individuals involved, I just think its sad to see a fabulous forum being pulled down

Just my view, but getting sick of reading the arguements and the rising amount of personal attacks on here, any newbies reading this thread will simply go elsewhere. lighten up for gods sake! We all should have the opportunity to express an opinion but why get so personal? Its just an opinion!

Specimans spot on regarding strap noise, don't know why but if you put a twist in it then the noise stops? For loading & carrying the Yak I use one of these -

I can only tell you about the X factor - The C.O.D. rudder kit comes with replacement sliding footrests, however to make them fit the X you would have to cut them down, so thanks to some advice from niko I simply used the ones already fitted to the X - they are much more substantial than the replacement ones anyway. To adjust the existing ones for length of your leg, they have a large locking pin that you turn, move the footpeg to suit & then re-engage the pin to lock them off. If you dismantle them and remove the 'pin' then the existing ones are able to slide & can be used with the rudder.
When you are using them, its hard to explain but the opposite foot provides resistance to push against as you paddle

Didn't want to mention that there were no instructions!!!! What makes it worse is that you don't need all the parts as its designed to fit different kayaks not just the Malibu range. The ones on the Malibu site help a bit but not much, enjoy your new pride & joy and if you need any more photies let me know.
PS make sure that before you cut the cable that the rudder is angled in the opposite direction, otherwise you will cut it too short like I did

Seem to remember reading about this on one of the american sites, from memory it got a mixed reaction, the guy had a retreival cord fixed to a ring in the centre of the drogue, as he jumped off the kayak he pulled the cord, this pulled the centre of the drogue towards the yak (inverted it) and stopped the waves having any further action on it. (Wish I could post a drawing - much easier to draw than explain!

Its an igloo coolbox from costco with a couple of rodholders attached, I need a couple of bits to finish it off but I'll post some pictures later in the week. Been searching for a crate to pimp up but can't find one I'm happy with, the collapsable ones have been to flimsy - I'll find one soon. hopefully!!

Apols but I've lost your email address so I'm posting the pictures here, hopefully they may be of use to others who are thinking about fitting a rudder- Apols for all the clutter in the background and if the yak looks like its got a rash its macky scales

There's a reel of green plastic coated wire plant tie you can get from B&Q ( a bit like the little wire wraps you get with plastic sandwich bags) its plastic so its slippy, use as a cable tie but only twist it 3 or 4 times, this should be enough to hold for general retrieval etc but if your stuck and you pull the twists will slip and you get the anchor back (usually) its a couple of pound for about 5m.
You can also use it as a weak link to connect your lead when wreck fishing or over rough ground - thats where the idea originally came from - an article in BFM.

I've got the green C Tug and it works fine but yep the strap is poor, thought they would have redesigned this on the new version but as mentioned its just a cosmetic change. I've read on another forum about the eckla type trolley damaging a couple of Prowler BG's!
