Each to their own...I paid a premium to get my Tarpon 140 in that colour

I have a Tarpon 140 and am happy with it.
I considered the non-angler version but finally bought the angler. Personally, I would spend the extra...whilst it is relatively easy to add rod holders etc. at a later date this does involve cutting great big chunks out of your expensive Yak and drilling various holes in it. Easy, if you know what you are doing and have the right tools. I think you might find however, that by the time you add up the cost of all the fixtures and fittings, plus the labour/risk involved...you might as well buy one already kitted out.
Don't bother with the Wilderness Systems rudder however....they are a complete waste of money IMO.

Right, I have been out a few times in my Tarpon 140 and am very pleased with it's performance. It's only ejected me twice when beaching and I think I have that under control now.
I have realised however, that the paddle I bought with the yak is a bit like a broomhandle with a couple of lengths of floorboard nailed on each end. It was alright at first, but I think I am ready for something better.
I was thinking of buying either a Lendal Nordkapp, or Werner Cascadia, but then I discovered the Mitchell Blades website.....http://www.mitchellblades.co.uk/
Has anyone upgraded their paddle recently? Any recommendations/advice/warnings?

I was interested in this myself, but had already ordered a Tarpon 140. I am sorry to say that I am 99.9% sure that Mr Yak has sold it....

Hi there!
Truro has relatively easy access to both the North and South coasts. Go North for big exciting waves and South for much more sheltered waters. There are too many launch points to mention, but I would try and stay away from obvious tourist beaches as they will be heaving if the weather is good.

We are camping at a site just on the outskirts of Gorran and hopefully will be launching and fishing from Gorran Haven beach...

I've got a certificate, but I'm blowed if I can remember the protocols or procedures. I just intend to use mine for emergencies when the proper protocol will be a simple scream for help...

I can't coment on it's performance as yet but I have just bought a 27AH golf trolley battery from eBay. Reasonable price and 'relatively' small size. I reckon it should do my FF, GPS and VHF easily..Depending upon initial trials I may also consider fitting an outboard motor:D
Some of this may contain an element of exageration...

I don't know if we can have 'stickies', but a safety one would be very useful IMO. Who carries what? What is the bare minimum? Recommended safety practices? etc, etc

I've been using a Tarpon 140 for a couple of seasons now and it's been okay but I decided in the Summer to get something a bit easier to launch and popped down to my local shop fully intending to buy a Malibu Mini-X. Due to some superb salesmanship and a few convincing arguments, I didn't end up buying the Malibu and subsequently took delivery of a Hobie Revolution and, I am absolutely delighted
I always thought the Mirage Drive system might be a bit of a joke but it works superbly well and appears to be incredibly efficient.
As I only took delivery late in the season, I am really looking forward to giving it a thorough thrashing next Summer as, although it's been out on several occasions, there's nothing like a bit of warmer weather to make the whole process a tad more enjoyable...
