Dammit, he said, while shaking his head,

and a stony silence resulted,

blocking the flow,

is the way to go,

and the damn builder quietly exulted.

 

Dammit, he said, while shaking his head,

think about all that cheap power,

free power is good,

and it saves lots of wood,

even if some people are sour.

 

Dammit, he said, while shaking his head,

think about all the saved rain,

we can irrigate fields

and obtain higher yields,

thus increasing our capital gain.

 

Dammit, he said, while shaking his head,

whose fault is this great big scam,

we did what we must,

for the public trust,

now nobody gives a Goddamn.

the salmon are close to extinction

removing the dam,

is by far the best plan,

It has served its term with distinction.

I wish we knew a bit more

it may get all muddy,

what we need is a study,

to bring our plan to the fore.

the barges will have to be scrapped,

we can then use the train,

raise the price of our grain,

and the railroad will be far less strapped.

we only just blinked,

and they were extinct,

while we were out worshipping mammon.

In Alaska theres still a good take

I was up that way,

on my last holiday,

so who needs fish on the Snake ?

it really is a damn shame,

we all got our wish,

and now have no fish,
