canal fishing (macclesfield - bollington)

hi looking to do my first bit of fishing of the year and was walking down the canal and people have said there is carp in there if anyone has any info on it that would be great. would it help alot if i went 3 times a week before fishing and bait up or just go for a week and see if i can see any i have done float fishing on there before and go very small roach and perch but am after carp

The carp at this time of year will be packed pretty tightly in one or two spots - you may stand a chance if you can locate one of these holding areas, but personally I'd wait for the weather to warm up before thinking about fishing for them. The roach fishing is still good at the moment though (if you can find a stretch that's free of ice).
