Pellets and roach

Going fishing tomorrow and instead of just sitting with a float and catching a few fish and wandering around i'm going to take it a little more seriously to see if i can get a decent bag of fish. Due to the water i will be fishing (Small estate lake about an acre) the majority of fish will be roach. I'm planning on trickling maggots out with the odd bit of groundbait possibly but not a lot of feed.

 

To make a bit of a 'plop' in the water though and get the noise attracting the fish i thought i'd put a few 4mm expanders out only a small pinch every now and then. I was wondering how effective this would be

 

I've only ever used pellets for bream and carp so are small pellets effective for drawing roach into your swim and keeping them there because of the smell and sound of them?

 

I really don't have a clue how roach react to pellets so any advice would be great, thanks

Ball in one ball of groundbait at the start of your session. then ping out a few pellets every couple of mins once the bites start. little and often is the way to go. single maggot on the hook or even a pellet. if your after roach maybe put out a bed of hemp and ping out a few grains little and often. 4-5 at a time.

Simple but effective method.

Why 4mm for roach when there are 1 and 2mm pellets available? Is it because you have loads of 4mm pellets needing used perhaps?

 

If you have that many, send them to me...lol
