What Is The Biggest Fish Landed On A Kayak?

ONe of the things that got me interested was the photo of the guy being towed by a Marlin!

It's my understanding that guy hooked the marlin in a powerboat and then got in the yak for the fight. Still quite a feat.

I know here in Florida 200 lb tarpon have been landed in a kayak, big sharks, and some pretty impressive "goliath grouper" (aka "jewfish") have been landed as well.

I've landed some quite large freshwater fish from a kayak, including carp over 30lb...although sometimes I've been forced to open the bail-arm and paddle to shore after the fish have towed me a while when I've forgotten to take a small anchor. :)

I've landed some huge shark and stingray from a boat off the African coast, but on seeing some of the locals fishing from tiny dug-out canoes, and sometimes accidently hooking big stingray (our largest stingray on rod & line was 300lb) or massive shark and then being towed at a mighty rate of knots out to sea, I'm not in a hurry to hook one from a canoe or kayak. :D

I have an amazing old video covering 'the last of the shark callers' in the Pacific. It was once shown on TV (BBC I think) - anyone see it? There is some wonderful footage of a native trying to play and then pull a live shark into his tiny dugout...
