handheld VHF from the US

I could get a handheld VHF from US (probably a Cobra 325VP for about half the GB price) BUT does anyone know if will it work over here or are the channels all different?

I don't know about VHF Handheld Radios, but an ex boss of mine bought a car radio in Canada (he was working there for a couple of years) and when he brought it back (to Ireland) he found that the preset spacing between the different channels was completely different to that in Ireland/UK (so it would not work properly).

 

You would also need to check the usual CE Marking, etc. if you want to import into the UK from the US.

I contacted Icom before I bought mine and they mentioned that some UK marine channels are missing with the US one. I went for the UK version.
