Martin - thanks for this. I'm particulary concerned about how much upper-body strength is needed for sea work. Is the typical sea yaker someone with previous inland water expertise? or is it okay for novices like my self to go straight in for coastal paddling?

Hi - as an increasingly exasperated beach angler, I've decide that yak fishing must be the way forward but am concerned that my age and fitness level are a real barrier. I would really appreciate advice about a 50 yr old who leads a very inactive lifestyle could/should go about preparing to be safe on the water. Cheers
