  2. H.M.S Hood sounds a good spot for beginers like myself, its in portland harbor? Is the wreck marked by bouys or is it a case of using a fishfinder to locate? What kinda stuff do catch through out the year? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4...rbour_south.JPG or is it the case of you can just see it?

Im bideing my time with getting the fish finder i have the winter to decide, prehaps an xmas present. Most of the winter i will be fishing poole and christchurch harbor after the flatties to build up a bit of experience before going out to sea. So a fishfinder isnt really that useful in that situation.

Looks like good stuff, shame its only available in white, i imagine it would look quiet messy around rod mounts!

Your doing a great job ive been following it to do most of my modifications. I have a malibu 2XL, are there anymore walk through guides youve got coming? My next job is a fish finder would be good to see how someone else fitted on this kayak.

Im currently in the process of kitting out my kayak, its certainly no easy job finding all the bits and bob. I swear someone needs to open a kayak fishing shop very soon!!! My current question (i know theres been lots) is there seems to be a vast range of silicon sealants/adhesives would someone mind recomending me a brand/range that i can just go straight in and buy. I mean are there any types that tend to be better in the marine environment? Every aspect of kitting out a kayak seems to involve hours and hours of research. Thanks
  8. So when a club has the rights to fish part of a river its just the bank? Would it be acceptable to fish there from the confort of a kayak?
  9. guess your not married then ya lucky git!!!!
  10. Hi Dave Would love to meet up some time and fish the poole area. The guy who i went with isnt really into fishing, i gotta say i prefer a bit of company. I live in salisbury but unfortunatly this forum is very restrictive. No PMs and no profiles. Not really sure how i could get in contact without leaving peronal details on here. Any ideas?
  11. Actually your right for some reason i saw the feelers on its chin and just thought gunard. Unfortunatly is was deep hooked (had to wait for strong bits due to tidlers!!!!) and it died i gave it to my friend for the pot!!! Dam i should have had it :S
  12. Well thanks for your advice SpeciMan we had a very enjoyable day. Ive done alot of fishing in the past but this truely is the most enjoyable satisfying way to fish!!! I think there is a steep learning curve and i imagine poole harbor has a lot more to offer than we managed, but if i can get out and catch these mini species im happy. Manage to catch 3 bream, 3 smoothounds (i think) a gunard and mackeral. http://www.pbase.com/philyboy/kayak_fishng The trip did leave me with a lot of questions though!!! Whats the best approach just let the current take you and cover a lot of ground or anchor up, we just tied up on a spare bouy. Was pretty clueless really. Is it sensible to use an anchor what if some debris wrapped around the rope and tipped the kayak? Thanks again for the advice
  13. Thanks for that Was just looking for some info on evening hill, found this nice pic. Would this be showing the deep channel you mentioned? http://thewindmap.com/wiki/index.php/Eveni...-UK_and_Ireland
  14. Hi all Its going to be my first venture out kayak fishing this week and its going to be poole harbor. Would anyone mind giving me some advice? From my reading some of its a bass nursery, does that mean some of it is off limits for fishing? Could some one suggest some good some spots, rigs/baits or any general advice for fishing this area, where to launch from? After all the 1st trip out needs to be memorable!!! cheers guys Phil
  15. Im going to have to appologise as i know you guys probably get a lot of these same old newbie questions. Ive been a shore fisherman for a long time frustrated by my inability to cast the required distance (better than alot of people though). So after a lot of thought kayak fishing seem the way forward for me and living in salisbury there are lots of options available. I want to get a kayak for just myself in the cooler weather but would allow a passenger in the summer months (the misses!!) I was looking at the Ocean Kayak Malibu 2 XL. Now i have a peugeot 206, would this take a kayak of this size? Also how easy is it to take off and put back on the roof rack when fishing alone? Thanks for your advice Phil
