  1. Well Malky had been in touch about having a try for some MOG wrasse so we met up yesterday morning at 06.00 for Malkies "wrasse bash" !!! After a short drive we arrived at the parking place for the mark I had in mind and set off through the fields. I told Malky it was about a 20 min walk but I think that was an underestimation.

After carefully walking through a field with 2 bulls in and yomping along the cliff tops we arrived at the mark. We both set up with sliding floats on our spinning gear,I had lug and limpet for bait and Malky had lug and crab.

The water was a fair depth so we were just fishing a couple of feet out. I was first in after about 10 mins with a small coalfish. I put it into a rock pool for a quick photo and while doing so the hook dropped out, well that was handy.

Malkies wrasse expertise then started to shine through when he landed his first fish. It was not big but it was our target species. He managed to winkle out a couple of more wrasse at this spot before we decided to move further along the cliffs. I nearly came a cropper at this stage as the rocks were quite slippy, all I hurt was my pride though!!! We got settled in to this second mark and very shortly Malkie was working his wrasse magic again with a bigger stamp of fish and all I could manage was one wrasse.

What did cause much amusement was the slight language barrier between the Geordie and Scottish accent. It had the pair of us giggling like a pair of kids.

This was one of my wrasse

We moved on again to our final mark and Malky got a couple of bigger wrasse on crab bait while I managed to lose a couple of decent fish when the hooks pulled out. I also tried spinning hoping for a pollack but never got a touch on the lures. We packed in just before noon and Malky had had a great session, getting into double figures on the wrasse. All I had managed was one coley and two wrasse!!!!

That climb back up the cliff had me done in. By the time I got to the top Malkie was onto his second ciggy LOL. Malky then came back to our caravan in Drummore and we had a cup of coffee and a bit craic on the veranda. I gave Malkie a couple of Snatchers WMD's to try out at a later date. It had been a most enjoyable morning session and Malkie had got his wrasse and I was really pleased for him. All of our fish had swam safely away with no casualties which is always good. He set off from our place to go to Ardwell Marine to pick up some bait for his afternoon/evening session. Smoothies were his target,I just hope he got some. :)

  2. Hi Conkers Deep, everyone will be buying red n yellow large shads now.

    Ace report.

    Cheers John

Once Michael changed to the Shad he seemed to catch quite well, he must of caught three large fish on it, He also caught one on a jelly tail.

  3. Well, this was our first trip out this year, a little overcast with a strong breeze at times we set off at 12:00pm on the Guide Me charter boat from Seahouses. Snatcher was not with us this year as he was too busy mackeral bashing at Luce Bay.

We started with a bit of rough ground fishing before drifting over an inshore wreck. It wasn't long before the first cod to about 3lb was caught. Just after that everyone apart from myself seemed to be pulling up cod around the 3lb mark. I seemed to lose more tackle, sometimes as soon as it was hitting the seabed. However my luck changed when we drifted over the first wreck and I took a cod to about 4 lb :clap2: Michael who used to work with us was having all the luck with a couple of cod around the 4-5lb mark, later on he decided to use a red yellow large shad and caught the biggest fish of the day to about 6lb. The fishing improved and everyone started to haul in Cod and Coley, Some a little undersized to keep. It was a good days fishing, with everyone catching but there was no Mackeral around for me to try a use my spinning rod on the boat.

We are planning another trip either in July or August so hopefully it is as successful as this one. However I would prefer to keep more of my tackle next time  . Sorry Snatcher, no pictures as I forgot my camera. I shall remember it for the next time.

  4. I thought it was Jonathan King as well but it was a nice suprise to see another dickhead get a glasgow kiss!!!

people like that really don't deserve to called a celebrity, stuff removed

edit note: Hi Conkers Deep. Ease off on the rough language if you would please.

  5. The news that Derek is a fake is hardly new, the story in the link is a year old and was the result of months and months of investigation. Most Haunted is a genuine paranormal investigation, whether you believe what you see or not is up to you, and I doubt anything I could say would change anybodies mind, but there is no fakery or trickery now that Acorah has been shown the door.

Acorah left all the crew with bitter tastes in their mouths regarding all 'psychics' but after having worked with David Wells for two years now, he does indeed seem to be the genuine article, ie, someone who can talk to dead people. I don't say that lightly, having been sceptical about such things all my life, but the whole crew are astounded by what he can do on a regular basis.

On the latest live Most Haunted in Edinburgh you got your leg cut quite nastily, what happened??? Also was it Stuart who had his back scratched, what does everyone think about that? if it is a load of bull****, what caused the scratching, me I have an open mind, as a scientist (allegedly) I would need personal proof before I could believe or disbelieve. (Also I seem to remember reading somewhere that Borley Rectory was a fake)

  6. Thanks for that :) Dead chuffed. I was just lucky with that shot. I really do appreciate the skill you guys have in this art form.

Since buying my first digital camera a whole new world has opened up for me. I am seeing things now I would not have seen before.

Was up Newcastle this afternoon and have a couple of shots for the current comp. Am off to the Mull of Galloway this Thursday to close down my caravan for the winter. If the weather gods smile on me will do a Mull compilation and post them up for you.

Thanks again all those who voted for that Berwick bridge shot :clap2::clap2::clap2:

Honestly, I'll never hear the end of this at work now, congratulations ya skanky old coot
