Well, this was our first trip out this year, a little overcast with a strong breeze at times we set off at 12:00pm on the Guide Me charter boat from Seahouses. Snatcher was not with us this year as he was too busy mackeral bashing at Luce Bay.
We started with a bit of rough ground fishing before drifting over an inshore wreck. It wasn't long before the first cod to about 3lb was caught. Just after that everyone apart from myself seemed to be pulling up cod around the 3lb mark. I seemed to lose more tackle, sometimes as soon as it was hitting the seabed. However my luck changed when we drifted over the first wreck and I took a cod to about 4 lb Michael who used to work with us was having all the luck with a couple of cod around the 4-5lb mark, later on he decided to use a red yellow large shad and caught the biggest fish of the day to about 6lb. The fishing improved and everyone started to haul in Cod and Coley, Some a little undersized to keep. It was a good days fishing, with everyone catching but there was no Mackeral around for me to try a use my spinning rod on the boat.
We are planning another trip either in July or August so hopefully it is as successful as this one. However I would prefer to keep more of my tackle next time . Sorry Snatcher, no pictures as I forgot my camera. I shall remember it for the next time.
