  1. Please may I thank all those involved for organising a great day out. Although we had a cold start, the weather was great and in spite of being an absolute stranger to AN, everyone I met was VERY friendly but, I guess that’s because we are all anglers and as such, nice people…! I didn’t’ catch a single Grayling but was happy with my 3 brownies (1 of which was caught on a worm provided by someone who shall remain nameless! – worming on the Test, whatever next!) Already looking forward to the next trip and to reading your posts in the meantime. Thanks again for an entertaining day out. Regards, Maranman
  2. Hi everybody, Because it probably won't be promoted, here is a listing I culled from the BBC website - I believe this is the 1st of 3 programs? The Accidental Angler BBC2 Sun 12 November 2006, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm 60mins Indian Mahseer: In search of the legendary and mighty Mahseer, the strongest freshwater fish in the world, Charles Rangeley-Wilson travels to Mysore in India to fish the Cauvery river. Subtitles Stereo Widescreen Should be good Regards, Maranman
  3. Thanks for the nice welcomes ! I will indeed be logging on on a regular basis. Due to the fact that I have a full time job and a smallholding with Pigs and Chickens which keep me busy, I have got a bit out of touch with "modern" angling (I didn't know how to tie a knotless knot for example!) so, I will probably be posting quite a few queries. One of the great things about forum/s is that somebody, somewhere always has a solution to your problem and its nice to be able to help each other Just to give a bit of background about me; My wife says I am a Grumpy Old Bast..d and my 14 year old Daughter agrees - I am 51 but Grumpy, never???! My favorite species is Barbel but I enjoy catching anything as long as it bends the rod. I have been catching them occasionaly since the late 70's and my pb is a rather lowly 10lb 2oz from the Severn at Hampton Loade but I intend to change that soon..... Going to attempt to catch some Grayling from Barton Court on the Kennet tomorrow, will let you know how badly I blanked. Cheers Graeme
  4. Hi everybody, Graeme Cox aka Maranman here from just outside Marlborough, Wilts. Just discovered and signed up for this forum last night while trying to find information on the Grayling fishing at Barton Court on the Kennet. I read all 6 pages of posts and you seem like my kind of people / anglers - I know the day trip is full but if someone drops out at the last minute can I be put on the list for inclusion? My mobile is 07811-497455 and landline is:01672-861566 Looking forward to reading and posting for many evenings to come. it's a bit cheesy but "Tight Lines" to you all Graeme
