  7. Thanks Hembo.

I think every one should be forced to watch that programme. I did not realise the amount of damage that flotsum could cause, ok people are dirty b...........ds you see them throwing it out of car windows etc. This to me is the pits and i feel ashamed that in the past i would not think that this could cause so much death to something like that. It was pitifull to watch but compelling. Not to be missed.

I appreciate that people do leave rubbish around, but as a local of Chesil Beach myself I can safely say that a lot of the rubbish found on Chesil Beach is washed up by the strong tides and also from the Napoli that was beached at Branscombe a few months back. Chesil Beach is regularly cleaned by volunteers to help quell this problem. What needs to be done for the public use of the beach is to lay on more waste recepticles so that anyone seeing litter on the beach can pick it up and dispose of it themselves, rather than waiting for the volunteers! I'm the last one to see any animal suffer, and I do agree that our laws on rubbish are too fickle, but if we want things to improve then the buck stops with us. Instead of speaking about it, lets do it. Lets clean up after ourselves, and if we see other lazy b......s throwing their litter away with no respect for others, let them know in the most polite way that they are to take their rubbish away. But then we are talking about human nature!!

  12. LMAO  I just had a mental picture of a cod "smoking" a pipe-fish. Maybe whilst wearing some slipper-limpets?

lmoa, wat are pipe fish and wat do they look like, can we use them as bait???

  13. The cod fishery has really been decimated by the ever-greedy commercial fishing fleet.

However the commercial fleet isn’t the only evil at work hear!

Fast growing fish like cod are more that capable of reproducing enough fry that the fishery could get back on its feet if left alone.

But they are still being hammered and climate change has now kicked in. This means that although the cod are breeding well the zoo plankton that immature codling feed on is not there, it has moved north to colder water. So the baby codling have very little to feed on.

Thats as I understand it anyhow.

ty for ur info, as i understand it tho if the cod were left alone for 24 months they wud over populate the sea, have i been miss informed?
