  1. Hi Chaz, Yeah I paddled out from there a few times last year. Caught pollock, bass and mackerel. Mainly trolling rapalas. Regards Steve
  2. Hi Chaz, We tend to stay around the Port Gaverne area, but always in September. Its usually great in September. Never been in June so was not sure if it was any good. Regards Steve
  3. Hi All I am thinking of a holiday in June in the Cornwall area. Is June a decent month to go after Bass and Pollock? Many thanks Steve

    Waders

Hi Adam I own a pair of neoprene snowbee chest waders which were great for about a year, then they started to leak at the seams . Aquasure sorted them out. Don't know how long you should get from a pair of waders but expected more than a year! Can't really recommend them.

    St Abbs

Hi Neil Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of St Abbs area for a bit of cod or pollock fishing. I live in the newcastle area and don't want to be driving too far(only got 3 days). I have never fished up there so was going to give it a bash. Its going to be up that way or across to kirkudbright. Just found thorntonloch on the map. Can I camp wherever around there or can you recommend a site? Steve

    St Abbs

Hi All, I am thinking about a few days exploring/fishing at St Abbs in August. Can anyone recommend this area? Also any pointers for campsites would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Steve
  8. Hi all, I bought a green p13 last September and planned to use it in salt and fresh water, however all of my fishing up to now has been in the sea and I can't see this changing (its too good). The prowler is my first kayak and I have no major issues with it, I'm 6"3 14-15 st and get a fair bit of water in the footwells which I believe is the norm and everything else seems great. I am thinking of getting a mango or flame (one of the bright ones) elite or possibly waiting for the trident to arrive but have no experience of either of these kayaks. Can anyone who has paddled the elite and p13 tell me if it is worth upgrading to the elite. Is the ride a bit drier, faster, better etc. Or should I hang on and see how the trident reviews or just stick with the p13 and hi viz clothing. Any advice appreciated Steve
  9. If anyone is interested Aldi are doing 3mm long sleeved wetsuits for £30 this thursday.
  10. Hi all I am new to kayak fishing and am gearing up for this season, I am thinking of buying a gps or fishfinder but can't decide which to buy first. Can't really afford both just yet. I am thinking safety first and am swaying towards the gps however I don't plan to venture too far from the shore until I've got some miles under my belt, so maybe the fishfinder will get more use. Any thoughts? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance, Steve
  11. Thanks to all for your help with What 10#. (couldn't pm you Tony i've not had enough posts, but thanks for the info. staying at the cojimar and I have found cuba mania) After reading this and other forums I have compromised and gone for a 9#! ( redington cps) . I got a good price (£182) and feel this rod will get more use on our shores. Cheers
  12. I'm off to Cayo Guillermo, and have read the flats at Paredon can be good. I've not heard of the Jardines del Rey. Are they far away, will I need a guide?
  13. Hi all, Apologies for the vagueness of my original question. ( I am a forum virgin ) The main reason for a 10# is for a couple of weeks holiday in cuba next feb, however I would also like to think I could use it on the yak for heavy sunk work for pollock or pike over rough ground and with a floater for casting large poppers. A 4 piece would be my first choice for travel reasons, and £250 would be the max I would pay. I am happy paying a lot less if someone knows of a quality rod? The shortlist was Greys xd sw, loop blue line sw and now it looks like the fulling mill gold. Cheers Steve
  14. Hi, Can anyone recommend a saltwater 10 weight for under £250. I was thinking along the lines of the greys platinum xd ( saltwater ) or loop blue line. Has anyone tried any of these or similar?
