  1. lol im not quite that old lol , but i will ask around for you and see what i can find out for you, i know there used to be good catches of Cod on a breakwater style structure near us, i seem to remember some of the older generation saying i will let you know.
  2. Hi stavey yeah 20yrs , and im sorry i dont know anything about the Cod conditions in that area during th 60's sorry..cheers
  3. Thanks Barry yeah that is a scarey read, as obviously the combinations of problems within this fishery is going to have devestating effects, thankyou for pointing me that way. You could be no more wrong if you tried , i am not a commercial fisherman kicking back , i have taken a dislike to something i have read written by MG , if you read my posts above and digest it before slating all commercial fishermen , i actually praised MG on his conservation attempts and ideas and not once have i said i dont like him as a person (so plz get your facts right) what i said was i dont see how someone with a conflict of interests can slate someone for doing the same carreer type as himself i.e. fishing(the fact 1 is for food and the other for bait is irrelevant). He as a person is a nice bloke as far as i am aware andjudging by some of his articles he has done loads to help your cause, but lets get 1 thing straight your cause is actually if you take time to digest things is also our cause, as if the fish disappear we no longer have a living and you will have to take up knitting to fill your time. Most commercial fishermen understand the results and concerns of overfishing because they see it everyday and see the days catches getting worse , so plz read and think before you post and if commenting on something i had said say it the way i did , as twists bend topics out of recognition and the end result is a full circle where the 2 groups go back to a divide, if you read my posts you will also see that i am a pleasure fisherman too..
  4. Thanks Barry for the warm welcome i will divulge i live on the South Coast, i would like to read that article as i am not an expert of any kind, only know what i know , a normal everyday joe bloggs, if you could point me in the direction of that article as i am very interested in reading it , maybe then i would better understand .. The above i did not and do not know as i dont move in these circles, I know i tried Carp fishing and got the buzz as it involved using freindly methods and baits and the anglers looked after their envitoment (not saying sea anglers dont , as i have said theres good and bad everywhere), Tench fishing is something i have never tried lol but sounds good, me a biker lol i have enough trouble controlling my rod lol, no iam not a Barry Sheen lol and never will be , when looking for my name i saw a news article on tv and used that.
  5. I will try and answer your questions as best that i can Leon I do not think he should shut up and stop publicising the activities far from it, as what he has said and written is true we all know that fishing is a enviromental damiging industry, we can make choices and decisions that will minimise this. which is what ppl are trying to do. How can you say his fishery is different to any other in comparison, did they say that about the Cod and Bass and Tope in the 70's , did they also say that about Whales , everything has a limit and i personnally feel that limit has been crossed, we used as i said srcape/vingle 20-30 sandeel a 1-2hr period of gathering bait for a sessions angling now we cant get any, you may get 1-5 if you are lucky, ok they continue to take n.o.1 food chain and take and take and take until a few generations and i believe not many , will be saying ....................i remember the sandeels you used to get live for fishing good bait they were , cor they were the days... but who am i to know if its sustainable and more to the point who are you to know if its sustainable You had a good go at trying to make it sound like im saying " shut the **** up MG you are gonna spoil it for everyone" lol very good and well done, nice twist , but my point from the very start and i re-itterate is that the man with all the suggestions and big ideas is practicing the very methods that he condems, ah but does he ? If i supplied proof then i just as well drop myself in it now, why not look it up , how they caught ? is it sustainable ? but in the commercial sector a vessel that uses a net to catch firsh is called a netter, so therefore he is a netter calling for a total ban on inshore netting, and you tell me would this effect him ? If he was trying to bring something in that would effect him it would be bad business practice and seen as hes a very very sucessful business man, ask yourself this why would he try to ban all inshore netting ? Somewhere there is a gain of sorts, but that is none of my business , i just dont like being slated by someone trying to be a golden saint when he is no different to the rest of us commercials. Corruption pmsl, look at the goverment and other associations if you think this area of issues and politics is squeaky clean and free from corruption you are stupid lol , as its everywhere , i have not spoken with CFO as again i cannot take the chance and seen as this excellent forum exsists i thought this would be the place to start, me a hypocrite again nice attempt at reversal , but i have openly admitted what i do and condem what i do , but i have no choice as i have bills to pay , but then im not trying to make out im a saint either. So i draw from this response from you that i as a inshore netter am both a hypocrite and irresponsible because i am damaging the enviroment and fish stocks in an unselective manner. And MG is a sucessful business man, doing everything the right way, is a saint and all his aims are what you want to hear and he obviously practicses fishing in a more controlled and non destructive manner. Checkout sandeeling and see what happens , see how tralws/nets are also NON SELECTIVE in what they catch, and remember this posting and i hope i am totally wrong in my predictions of another decimated fishery, and i will take a back seat and accept that as a inshore netter i am bad , yet certain committee members can do as they please because of who they are........................CORRUPTION.. lol sry i missed the end point yeah a tench fishing session sounds just the job, any spaces Wurzel
  6. Tell me the difference i set nets inshore to make a living, hmmmmm sandeels come from inshore where MG makes a living , but he has the gaul to slate inshore men/women Now look at the title of this post HYPOCRITE i cannot see itr any other way..
  7. Hi mate yep what he has said is the blame on Bass downfall lies with the inshore fisherman or words to taht effect if i could find the postings i would copy them here they maybe old like previously staed, he runs a business reliant on fisheries , so do inshore fleets in our area, yet he was slatting inshorew fishermen fortheir partnof the damage, fine i would definately agree that inshore netting has an effect on both fish stocks and the enviroment, but he also is a inshore fisherman reliant on making a living on inshore waters using simular methods as we do , so the picture i see him paint is that inshore fiashing practices are bad alround when he practices the same methods , okay NOT gill netting but still obtaining a living from the sea inshore , he has made his living and worked hard for it, what about the inshore men/women who havent ? Why paint a picture that he is a saint yet inshore men/women are not, if we are responsible for some form of damage then so is he for the methods he uses and taking the number1 in the food chain for Bass, when i first started this post i thought i could get my point of view across without revealing who i am, but unfortunately i cant , as by going further into detail would leave me open, so all i am gooing to say is before he throws rocks at inshore fishermen/women practises he should see that he is no different to us. Thankyou for all your welcomes..
  8. Hi mate Thankyou for your welcome , yeah i would say most of what you said is correct , but the sandeel have definately declined over the past 10-20yrs this could be due to over fishing or climatic conditions this is something i am not that clued up on the climate lol, and yes a bait net cannot be as destructive as a gill net, but the same goes from a 200yd sheet set half slack compared to a trawl, the later causing more damage, what would be a good idea for all and fishing as an industry would be to turn all netters into long liners, thus 1 hook 1 fish scenario, therefore after the first few mnths i would of thought all prices would rise sharply, fish stocks would have a chance to recover and thrive and the rod anglers would also benefit from better sized and qyuality fish hitting the shores, but somehow i dont think this would ever be a feasable solution, but thnx again for your welcome
  9. I dont think the company inquestion is responsible for a decline in sandeels catches in Scotland, but my point is if (again i cant find the page i found it on , if someone knows the full facts please add) i read somewhere that a sandeel fisherie somewhere in Scotland had become unreversablly damaged, so if this can happen there , can it not happen here ? May i suggest you read the posts again as my main point was not aimed at the sandeel fisheries of the UK it isaimed at 1 person slating another when the person slating is in the same business and uses the same methods..
  10. lol i thankyou for your time in replying , but as i stated i found the article 12mnths ago , i will check but i am sure i stated that lol, due to circumstances i cannot enter into i did not reply straight away because i could and no before you say i am not a disgruntled ex employee.... Your reply though interesting in the fact you clearly state it is old news the fact remains that this has been and continues to be said, i know he does alot of conservation (i do believe i stated that to), but unfortunately your reply tells me bugger all in response to the questions and points i said. Yes hes busy, yes he has a very good business (FISHING FOR MONETARY GAIN) , so it comes across to me among other feelings " right ive made my gains and now im gonna mess everything up for others " how can someone who FISHES FOR MONETARY GAIN preach and blame others that FISH FOR MONETARY GAIN , There is a conflict of interests as what would Greenpeace say if a member of them had shares in a whaling vessel........need i say more And yer right you cannot answer for him but if you know him as well as you say perhaps you could point him in this direction to comment. And i am not throwing mud, i just think its about time those that condem others be honest and upfront as thats what i am being here as far as going full circle correct and this will always happen until someone somewhere is honest and the group of members who decide the outcomes are made up from pleasure anglers and commercial men/women alike and everything is consulted in a manner thats fair for all, but agrevated i am that in some of his EARLIER documents and through to present day he seems to blame a lot on the inshore fleets, yet 100% of his sandeels come witjhin 500yds of shore using a purse/ring net , hmmmmmmm i do believe that would be classed as inshore fishing ? (COMMERCIALLY). And with views like yours (you like me are entitled to your opinion right or wrong) deem my point of view as throwing mud lol , is this maybe because i ve actually raised a valid point.....
  11. Sry i did not fully answer your posting what you are doing is generalising all 10m onwers in the same bucket, this could be done with pleasure anglers as well as there are good and bad in all walks of life some care some dont, yes all fishing net wise decimates everything in its way without remorse, and some do return undersized catches if i could make myself known i would provide you with my records showing weights i land with full documentation of sizes , but i cant and this will never be a possibility, i have returned fish that i could of landed because they were inside thesize limit buit my personnal issues stop me from doing this i land what i see as a acceptable size and a 2lb Bass in my book goes back everytime. I can seen why there is so much resentment , but with articles like the ones written by the above person hopefully you can understand why i feel angry towards this person and so the resentment angle and circle continues, until we all come together as a whole and stop slagging each other in a derogortory manner the end result will always be the same......resentment , you cannot say everyone is the same as their stereo typed mirror image, i believed also that the guy above has done loads for conservation until i read some of his articles themn the penny dropped hes trying tro be a saint but reality dictates otherwise he is as guilty as us all , and in my mind he ios and always will be a hypocite becauise he fishes for monetary gain no matter what speices hes fishes for.
  12. Thanks for the welcome and yes lol y7ou take your hat off to me lol, as i hopoe you can appreciate i need to keep my firmly on and stay anon lol, but ty. I am a legit commercial inshore fisherman, fully licenced and registered all the way, i believe that there needs to be equal rules to suit everyone both commercial and pleasure, and was reading a small posting lastnight on tagging caught catch to have a record of whos catching what and whos selling what, Bass is a struggling fish we all know that and it is a must we make moves to protect them now as we as a generation are the only ones who can ensure Bass will thrive or perish. The other comment on wether i am sure this guy sells his catch, yes 100% as this is the owner of Ammo Baits , he does NOT sell Bass and does as far as i am aware use a c&r method and this is something he should hold his head up high about, and so should everyone who adopts this approach, what he sells is Sandeels and various other baits again in first light this is not a problem but all ive read is hes totally conservation minded and us inshore chaps are getting the blame from him for Bass decline, this is both and unfair label put on us, and i felt enough is enough, his methods differ slightly to ours but, hes is still responsible for his part in removing number 1 in the food chain in such big quantitys, then something will give that i am sure of, yes inshore guys who shoot nets in knee deep water need to be reprimanded i agree theres nothing worse than casting out and getting 50yds and hooking a net as you know everything small or large is doomed if they go near this equipement. I am no expert in these matters and talk purely on what i see and know that is there is less sandeels in our local area, there also happens to be less bass , hmmm n.o.1Bass food sandeel staple diet, if all the bad blame he puts on the inshore guys has the results he is hoping for the end result will be many inshorwe fisherman bankrupt, yet what he is acvheiving is pushing small inshore fleets to bankrupcy and giving the bigger pair trawlers and etc etc the excuse to fish harder as the monetary value of Bass wil rise as less is being caught net/handline, so indirectly hes helping the offshore guys and crucifying the inshore guys. He also needs to puiblically via the forum admit that he is responsible in part for being a mass bait producer and he is equal to us in being he fishes for monetary value, not just try and save 1 spieces because he likes to fish for them. I believe that apart from Bass , Cod there are many other spieces that need to be looked after and we as ppl should stop blaming each other and backstabbing and slagging down one another and work together to find and result to benefit all and rescue and perserve the stocks of many types of fish, remember it goes deeper the customer at the fish n chip shop is just as guilty of causing damage as we are as they buy the fish thus creating as need for it, i bet there are many pleasure anglers on here that eat fish n chips and then slag us commercial guys down and that is why i posted this from the start WE ARE ALL GUILTY , and i would like an explaination of the guy in question as to why he blames us yet trys to make out he is an saint.
  13. I gotta be mad to be a commercial fisherman for a living lol , thanks for your welcome buddy, i enjoy all types of fishing including sitting by a lake in the sun carping its a great sport with big emotional and satisfying returns Thanks again..
  14. Thanks for correcting me cause i did point out " I MAYBE WRONG" But i dont think i am totally wrong as i have seen the decline of sandeels from our area over several years and granted all factors have to be taken into account , but again i refer to my point that no one commented on , all his business like everyelses is for monetary gain towards a better lifestyle , nothing wrong with that we all strive for that , but he is inshore fishing in a unregulated sector of fishing and has it all his own way and then slags off the inshore men for doing exactly what he has done for years, and i am hopefull he will comment here as to why he thinks he is different to everyone else. I also net amongst various other commercial activities but any kind of netting including mine is a very destructive and a unselective way of fishing of which he is a part of so my point again is he is an inshore fisherman making out he is a saint.
  15. Hi and thankyou for your welcome , but the point iwas trying to get across is that for many years he has stripped the area in question and it does have an impact as now sandeel stocks around this area have declined alot, we used to go down our local surf beach and vingle/scrape sandeels and we would get enough for a whole nights fishing 20-30 sandeels , now and even on the big tides you are lucky to scrape 5 , the shoal;s in the bay area have lessened, and yes although he has done alot for Bass conservation (of which altghough i am a commercial fisherman i do agree with the new sizes) it makes me angry to read that he blames the under 10m inshore fisherman of which he is one himself, again i reiterate , Greenpeace campaign on Whaling etc etc yet no Greenpeace member has shares in a whaling boat, so i find it hypocrictical that he has and still does make a huge living from the sea doing no different to the inshore men for " monetary gain " , again thanks for your welcome and i like the idea of somewhere to clear the air. I psml lol i am not any mad bloke that goes to SFC meetings, but thanks for the comparison, and trry reading what i said before and you may of understood, did i say anglers shouldnt catch bait NO did i say how can someone blame everyone but himself YES Sandeels are N0 1 in the Bass food chain so in my mind take away the Sandeel and Bass will no longer enter certain zones to feed, i have heard this guy blame all inshore fisherman and yet the inshore fishery has made him a very wealthy man over the years and he seems to forget that and how he did damage.
  16. I was directed here from this page http://www.anglers-net.co.uk/sacn/article06.htm I am both a new member and a inshore fisherman under 10m , i have read some very valids points on this forum and some right stupid ones, i have seen members attacking commercial fishermen and commercial fishermen attacking pleasure anglers. The posting the above link takes you to is a statement/letter/newsletter from a cvery influential person within the angling society, so with this in mind as far as myself and details i am going to be vague, i have read several newsletters/bullitens/letters by this chap and found that 12 mnths since reading his first article that its time to say whats on my mind, this guy has spent years stripping sea areas of sandeels and other baits, i may be wrong but i also read somewhere that a sandeel fisherie in Scotland somewhere did not recover from over fishing , yet this practice is unregulated as far as i can see, i have heard this guy go on about us wrecking bass stocks, damaging sea life in a unrecoverable way, to me he is a hypocrite , as Bass come into our area to feed on sandeels which he is stripping and selling fior monetery gain,no difference to the fishermen as we all do this for monetary gain and to pay bills and live, nhe blames everyone but himself, and i felt enough was enough and its about time he stopped acting all inocent in his personnel drive to blacken the name of inshore under 10m fishermen , i also pleasure fish and i put all small not nesscessary undersized, but all small fish i return, somenights i also return good sized Bass if i do not wish to either consume or give as a gift to someone. Let me guess in the good days this guy goes on about he never kept any fish for himself of monetary gain B*^ll(^&ks, For me and no one will convince me any different he is as much to blame as us inshore fishermen....sry rant over
