Hi Allrounder - In my teens I lived in Somerset.
One very cold winters day we had a club match (seniors) on the Brue, it was pushing through some and after a while trying my hardest to get a bite using a stick float without success, I decided to try a maggot feeder cast to the far bank.
I tried with maggots hookbait for some time, no luck.
Then I replaced my hook with a bigger size, impaled 2 red maggots and folded a large piece of bread flake around the shank.
One and a half hours later, 3 chub for 9lb 8oz and a match win!!

Hi - I wonder if any of you have come across this problem and can help.
I have a pc which works fine until I install an internal modem. The pc only has serial port for mouse, when I install the modem it disables the mouse.
By disable I mean that on starting the pc I get a message saying that Windows does not detect a mouse.
I have tried two modem cards, the same thing happened each time. I remove the modem and all is fine again.
Please
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP

Hi - The first couple of times I fished Stanborough lake I caught over 100lbs of bream. This was during the warmer months. I caught mostly on the pole.
Pellets/corn works well but you can also catch plenty wit chopped worm.
Also one late afternoon I went there with the intention of trying to catch carp in the margins. I used a power waggler rod, 8lb maxima straight through and size 8 hook with a big lump of meat and fed a few lumps of meat now and then.
The result was........35 bream in 4 hours!! and no carp
I have also caught plenty of carp to 14lb from the river there using hit 'n hold tactics where the rushes make it very narrow, caught mostly on pellets.
Also plenty of roach and chub from the river even in the middle of winter.
big bream city... guaranteed!!!!
