What I would love to know is whos head is going to roll. If the NFSA had the most input then they should be told in no uncertain terms to het theit tongs out of the commercials jacksie!The draft document seems to pander to the commercial fishermens needs. All I get from the draft document is a shed load of restrictions on sea anglers. This seems to be dressed up with sill issues like better access to marks. Well whats the point in better access to fishless marks.

Here in Essex I know of one commercial fisherman who also runs a charter boat. So he takes anglers out angling on one boat then goes out gill netting often to the same grounds. Nothing illeagal there he catches lots of fish for his anglers and lots in his gill netts to.

My best haul of mullet was 22 stone with 3 stone of bass for good measure. That was from a 17 foot ally assult craft and 50 yards of net, it took longer to shake them out than it did to catch them. Not bad when you think they were worth 50 pence per pound at the time. Theres 14lb to the stone so thats seven quid per stone. I earned 154 quid for an hour and a half work, not bad hay. But now those mullet are dead and will not reproduce and I feel a bit bad but hay at the time I had to eat and live and it wasnt illegal so my conscience is clearish!
