    Mullet Return

Today I have seen fish feeding on my breadbag for the first time this year. there have been reports of fish around the area for the last few weeks but these are the first seen in the dock (Southampton) this year. One of the fish has a distinctivley marked head, round one eye from nose to gill cover is whiteish, this fish was resident in the dock last year. Has anybody else noticed in their areas that the same fish can return year on year? In this dock fish have shown up within 4 days of the 1st of May for the last 5 years according to my records, this year being no exception. How do they know the date??? Yet another mystery about these annoyingly frustrating fish we nutters all love so much. The rods go in the car this weekend and I'll hope to catch my first one soon. Best wishes to all fellow Mullet nutters, lets hear your reports of sightings/catches
  2. My bread bag is hung on a pontoon in Southampton docks, on the River Itchen side. I work on the waterside and feed every day. Ifish for them after work in the evenings, had my first of the season yesterday evening, only about a pound but a start.
  3. Well at last, they are back... They seem hungry and are feeding readily on the bread bag. At this moment about 10 fish up to 4lb are mopping up every crumb that they can knock loose. I guess its time to unlimber the tackle and get stuck in.
  4. Lots of small mullet seen in the Itchen at Northam last night, the water in Southampton is in the 9 to 10 degree range and rising. I'm going to put my bread bag in on the dock tomorrow and will report when I spot fish feeding on it, last year the first fish started feeding on the 12th May, but its already almost as warm as then.
