  1. Has anyone got any views on the best carp hook baits? what flavours do you find work best when float fishing? Has anyone tried strawberry flavoured luncheon meat?
  2. Just wondered how good this rod is and if it is able to handle carp to 20lb from the margins. New to fishing and not sure whether to get that rod or the mach2 barbel rod. If anyone has any suggestions i would be grateful. p.s. I don't want to ruin my chances of catching other smaller fish if the tip is to firm.
  3. I'm new to fishing and have only been carp fishing with a 2.75 lb t/c fox rod with 15lb line. I'm going to a commercial water in a couple of weeks and was wondering which float rod is best at a budget? i.e what t/c and line should I be using. The water is stacked with many species but float fishing for carp is what I want to concentrate on. It holds carp to 20lb Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't want to make my life difficult for catching bream etc but also don't want to get my tackle snapped easily when catching a good sized carp.
  4. Just started fishing and was wondering if any of you have any views / advice on the best carp rod to buy. I currently use a friends rod with a 2lb test curve but it is very stiff and when playing big carp close in does not really have a lot of flex. I have about £50-£60 to spend. The lake I fish at is predominately full of big carp which need to be played around lily pads close in. The first four fish I have ever caught was last night and they were two 15lb mirror carp and a 19lb & 10lb common <--- just to give you an idea of the fish I'm going for. I also got snapped 4 times on 12lb mainline, mainly due to them wrapping me around the lily pads. I have seen the Shimano Alivio BX 2.75lb test curve for £30 just wondered if you can help? Thanks in advance, Darlo
