    WEST HOUSE FISHING REPORT 5/2/13

This weather is a killer, one day lovely, the next
rain, winds and or snow, however despite this those brave enough to fish have
had some good days. Despite the cold temperatures the fish are not deep with
most being caught in the top 2 feet. Best method this week has been a floating
line and letting a Lure or Bloodworm drift around in the breeze with the
occasional tweek, this has provoked plenty of takes.

Season ticket holder Lee Cartmail from
Middlesborough has had some excellent sessions this week his best being 24 fish
all caught on Apps Bloodworms but Lee has caught over 40 fish in total this
week, he’s really on form. David Bolton from Hartlepool had an excellent day
landing 12 fish the best 6lb all caught on a Black Zonker, and Peter Williamson
from Bishop Auckland also had a good day with 9 fish caught on Buzzers

A 4 hour sporting ticket is only £12

The lakes are now open from 8am until 5pm every day

Best Flies :- cats Whisker, Black Zonker, Blobs

WEST HOUSE FISHING REPORT 22TH JANUARY 2013

A new season at West House Trout Lakes. We look forward to seeing old and new faces at the fishery. Despite the freezing weather we are managing to keep two of the lakes open for fishing with the use of the aerators and remember Rainbow Trout are cold weather fish and are still feeding despite the minus temperatures. The best tip being to fish slowly or static using indicators and surprisingly the fish are not deep with most people catching in the top 2 feet of water. Fish have been seen rising during the middle of the day with sun on the water.

Season ticket holder Jack Noble landed several fish on dry fly patterns on a very cold but sunny day the best being 5lb.Peter Morrison of Thirsk landed 9 fish up to 6lb all caught on a Cats Whisker fished under an indicator. I personally had a 2 hour session and landed 7 fish and had lots of knocks and pulls on a Black Bunnyleach fished slowly on a floating line. Peter Crowe and Ernie Craster caugh 16 fish between them on a bitterly cold afternoon either pulling on under the indicator.

A 4 hour sporting ticket is only £12

    FISHING REPORT 15/07/07

Loads of fish feeding on the surface this week and excellent sport if you can identify the correct fly. The secret seems to be ‘tiny’ buzzers fished just in or below the surface

14 year old mark Foster of Birtley, Co Durham caught the fish of a lifetime this week on his first visit to west House. He landed a 17lb 7oz Rainbow caught on 6lb line using a Dawl Bach fly. His delighted father Joe said that it was one of 10 fish caught by his son and beat his previous best fish by more than 10lb

Please note the Evening Sporting ticket is only £8 and allows fishing from 4pm until 10pm

Best Flies : Dawl Bach, Blobs, Black Buzzers, OrangeFritz, Hares Ear

    FISHING REPORT 09/07/07

Plenty of fish moving on the surface this week, but its been a frustrating time with dry flies. The secret seem to be to fish a sunken dry fly or a buzzer just below the surface as the fish seem to be feeding just below the surface film. Try a sunken Daddy or black Buzzer.

David Knowles landed 9 fish using a sunken Goldhead Daddy his biggest being 5lb. Eric Peacock of Thirsk caught a Golden Trout of 9lb using a Shipmans Buzzer during an evening session. His partner Graham Dawson landed 6 fish using a selection of dry flies

Please note the Evening Sporting ticket is only £8 and allows fishing from 4pm until 10pm

Best Flies : Zonkers, Blobs, Black Buzzers, Fritz, Hares Ear

    FISHING REPORT 02/07/07

The weather has been a major factor this week reducing the number of anglers fishing the lakes. However for those that braved the elements the fishing has been excellent. Plenty of fish have been rising in the brighter periods and buzzers and nymphs have proved effective. At other times a slowly retrieved lure such as a Zonker has been the key to success.

Andy Saunders landed 12 fish using black and olive Zonkers and A Brown of Stockton landed a total of 13 fish on buzzers. Best fish of the week was a superb rainbow of 15lb 4oz caught by Peter Brennan of Durham using an orange Fritz. The fish took him 20 minutes to land and was his biggest ever capture

Please note the Evening Sporting ticket is only £8 and allows fishing from 4pm until 10pm

Best Flies : Zonkers, Blobs, Black Buzzers, Fritz, Hares Ear
