Thanks very much for those pointers. Errrm. I live in Worcester and searching the Internet has thrown up Arrow Vale Country Park as a possible place to start. Anyone have any views on that?

My first post and I apologise if it's a bit naive. I have recently returned from a coastal holiday in Devon with a five year old son who is mad keen to try out fishing. My fishing experience is nil but having bought my son and myself cheap beginner's spinning rods to use (with no success!) on holiday, I wondered whether it could be used for any form of freshwater fishing or whether I would need to start from scratch. Books that I have looked at in the library were not very helpful and, although I realise that I am probably trying to cut too many corners, I hope that someone can offer advice.
