Might sound like a particularly unseasonal topic but bear with me..
Recently taken up fishing again with a passion afer laying off for a few years. Never particularly serious before, mostly maggots and stick float for perch and chub down the local rivers all good fun but with no targets or aims in mind.
So I have decided to try my hand at deliberatley catching a fish of each species this season not necessarily big uns but wouldnt say no.
So my plan was on moving onto the rivers for some predator/barbel/chub/roach fishing in the winter after fishing for carp, tench, crucians and cats on the lakes for the next few months - i dont want to spread myself to thinly whilst still getting to grips with the various techniques.
The question is am I wasting my time waiting until later in the year for a session after a big eel? I know I can pull out perch and pike during the colder months but was planning on some late evening deadbait/lobworm legering for an eel as well but it has dawned on me they may well be a summer species like the catfish and so I should have a go now?
by the way my current tally stands at
carp 13lb 5oz
Bream 10lb 6oz
Tench 5lb 4oz
and a baby cat of 4 1/2
which isnt the most impressive haul I am sure, but i am very happy with after the first 6 weeks of the season.......(tho it has certainly cost enough getting everythign from scratch)
