Seems ee wantid aar elp wiv it like - Just say CEFAS were asked to identify two contrasting coastal areas of England (and two control zones) in which catch restrictions are implemented to limit commercial fishing for bass and to encourage RSA. Then we evaluated the commercial fishery’s reaction to restricted catch areas designed to benefit RSA. Say we were to utilise a management option using these restricted-catch areas to promote RSA. Say RSA activity is increased in the test areas and bigger fish were caught; wouldn’t it provide strong evidence that allowing angling in Marine Protected Areas (with suitable restrictions) may have real benefits? Say the government further recognised the benefits to RSA of having more large fish available to catch, especially since a recent Defra consultation has failed to gain acceptance of using an increased minimum landing size (MLS) to restore stocks of bigger bass. Say certain coastal areas were closed to extractive fishing and showed that this enhances survival and enabled more bass to grow bigger. Say the outcomes indicated positive benefits for all, including the government, using restricted-catch areas to promote RSA. If successful, wouldn’t this provide a model for further implementation of this management measure at strategic locations around the UK coast and not only for bass? Unless you are in the industry and know how it works, what regulations there are and how to take market opportunities when they happen then that means you dont now anything about fishing at all.They call me 'Beamer' at work, as I drive an 08 Series7 like.
