  1. Caught some good size ones at Stackpole in Pembrokeshire on the weekend. They are starting to come in from the shore as well.
  2. I went out on Sat as it was the only day on the weekend I was free. Went to Newport on the west Pembs coast thinking it would be sheltered and ended up in 30mph winds! Impressed with the kayak, but fishing weather it was not I aim to go out around the Pembs coast so if you are over this way let me know.
  3. Having just started kayak fishing there doesn't seem to be much organised in west wales. Just thought I'd sound out any interest in getting something informal organised. Purely to organise fishing trips and share info about the area. What do people think?
  4. Shame you couldn't make it Gareth. The sea was calm though it was a bit windy. Had a good paddle out and even a practice capsizing drill !! Hopefully we'll arrange something again soon.
  5. I will be in a green Landrover Defender with a sheepdog in the back and a yak on the top I've not been to Oxwich before so is the slipway easy to find? Derek
  6. So is anyone up for a trip out at Oxwich on the weekend? Sat or Sun.
  7. Let me know when you are in the area as I'm sure we can get out from Newport a few times as it's pretty close to me. There's some great coastline to fish around there and I've always had trouble reaching the rocks from the land side. The anchoring was fine except I haven't put on a proper tie point for the trolley or the anchor line yet. It surprised me the drag you get once the anchor bites in. What do you use to tie the anchor line to? I'll post the photo I put on WSF as well
  8. Sounds good to me. I live central to all the places mentioned. St Brides bay would be one of my favourite places (from St Brides itself or Nolton Haven maybe), Dale is ideal for the haven. I'm hoping to get out most weekends if the weather ever allows it!
  9. Same here with the equipment - seem to have spent as much on the extras as the yak itself. Am going out today for a test paddle to make sure it floats Brian, if you want to fish over this way - Carms/Pembs - let me know as I'd be happy to meet up.
  10. Haven't been out on the yak at all yet, and fishing is what I bought it for I'm in Carms but Oxwich is ok for me, and weekends are usually best.
  11. Where do you go out from in Cardigan Bay? Newport and Cardigan itself would be my choice as they are close to me. I was hoping to get out soon once the weather clears. I'd be happy to meet up when you're next heading out.
  12. If you are coming to the end of the M4 then I'd put my name down
  13. I was about to give up on this board I've got the Prowler 13 in the end. It's well recommended and I didn't want to go to the larger sizes. Haven't been out yet as the weather has been cak! I was hoping this weekend might be good enough to get out on the haven. The trident looks pretty good and should be a good choice. When you get set up let me know if you want to head over to carms - there are some good places to launch from like Pendine and Stackpole. Closer to bridgend is Oxwich bay on the Gower which I've heard is very popular. There are other boards that are more active - have a look at anglersafloat for one.
