  1. Thanks for the kind offer, but I'm in Stockport. It's a bit far. I'll check out the book though. Thanks.
  2. Hi all. I got into fishing again about 12 months ago, after a 15 year lay off (I'm now 34). Now I love it. I go piking, float fishing, feeder fishing, fly fishing, river fishing. I'm happy to catch anything, using any method. But I've never used a pole, and none of my fishing mates are at all interested in them, which leaves me 'mentourless'. I saw one on offer on TrevsTackle.com today; a Grandeslam Energie 8 Metre, reduced from £40 to £18 (+£6 P&P), so I bought it, just so I can give it a try. So, basically, how do I set up and use it? All advice is welcome. Cheers, Paul (bobthetrain).
  3. Can anyone reccomend any fishing clubs in or around Stockport? I don't mind a bit of a drive - half hour - 40 mins ish (Hour tops). I'm considering Disley and New Mills Angling Club, but I've heard mixed reviews on both their waters and attitude! Can anybody give me an opinion on this. I recently walked around a small pond controlled by Heaton Norris angling club. Anybody know anything about these? I've been considering joining a club for a good few months, and now that I can start looking forward to better weather (!) I thought I'd gather a few more opinions. Cheers.
  4. Hi. I'm thinking of joining Bay Malton Angling Club. I've only been coarse fishing for about a year, so my experience is pretty limited. Mainly 'bit bashing', and I've been piking twice (caught once - 8lb). I notice there's been no talk of Bay Malton on this forum since 2005, so I'm just trying to gather a few opinions on it. Are you/were you a member? What's it like? Are the waters difficult, especially for a novice like me? Do they get busy (I fish pretty much exclusively on weekdays)? I live in Stockport, so does anybody have any opinions on other relatively local clubs? Any help and advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Paul.
  5. Hi. I've got a Snowbee XS 560 Large Arbour fly reel. Anybody know how to swap it from right to left handed use? Apparently it's easy! Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers.

    Hi.

Hi. I've just got back into fishing after a brief lay off of about 15 years! I was 18 then. I started again when I was invited fly fishing (trout) with a lad from work. I love it, and he sold me a decent Daiwa rod, Snowbee reel, and threw in loads of flies, line, priest etc. I then dug out my float fishing gear and went on the local res a couple of times for a dozen or so little roach and perch. I now want to have a go at catching some bigger coarse fish, probably carp, and I've always fancied netting a pike. Are these 'everything you need' packages for £100 or so crap, or perfectly OK for a beginner like me? Would I be better getting some better quality second hand gear? Have you got some you want to sell me? Any other advice would be most welcome. Cheers. Bobthetrain.
