Washing raw chicken before cooking it can increase your risk of food poisoning from campylobacter bacteria.
Splashing water from washing chicken under a tap can spread the bacteria onto hands, work surfaces, clothing, and cooking equipment.
Water droplets can travel more than 50cm in every direction. Only a few campylobacter cells are needed to cause food poisoning.
Campylobacter is the most common cause of food poisoning in the UK.
Most cases of campylobacter infection come from poultry. About 50% of the chicken sold in the UK carries the bacteria.
Campylobacter poisoning can cause tummy pain, severe diarrhoea, and sometimes vomiting for between two and five days.
Ask any poultry farmer selling product at the farm gate and they will tell you not to wash poultry in water, they will also tell you that it is an insult when self appointed experts with little or no knowledge spout off that the use of chlorinated water leads to a lowering of animal husbandry or animal welfare. As usual these false accusations are wilfully spread by persons with an ulterior motive.

WRONG, under the auspices of the c f p and has been for the last 3 years. All ifcas now have the e u above them setting the rules and as is their bass restrictions put on u k charter boats and sea anglers including shore anglers, the e u if they think fit, can just as well apply cod restrictions on charter boats and sea anglers. For his info there is a cod take ban in the channel due to low stocks.
The French are allowed 84% of all e u quota on the cod in the channel, is that a coincidence I have to ask.
