I've been fishing for years, and got back into beachcasting a couple of years ago - I went long rod route, but not the same somehow so I'm now trying pendulum.
I use a 7ht or Abu 6500 Hi-speed, and an Abu esprit or Shaky salt - both 13' mult versions. I use 15lb/0.35mm mono.
Based on the footie pitches on the common, I reckon I'm casting about 120-140yds (I've got 3' of bright rope taped on the leader in case of snap offs, what with horses and dogs about)
I've found 6oz works better on the Abu rod, but wondering where extra distance could come from (apart from me getting better, obviously). I run the Abu with 4 blocks active, magnets off unless windy.
SO, I know that line lay, rig streamlining, line diameter, reel oil, end float, spool balancing, new rod, new reel can all potentially increase distance, but it seems I've hit a bit of a wall in terms of improvement and wonder what's next on the list in having a noticeable effect. I'd guess that with my gear a top caster would be hitting 180yds or so?
Any advice please?
