  1. Best bet is to talk to Paul Hamilton, he lives very close to that fishery. I don't have contact details, but if you get a copy of Angler's Mail and find the South West pages, you should be able to get hold of him through Brian Gay. Brian's numbers are on that page or you can email him at: fishpix@aol.com Good luck, Steve
  2. Note for ferret 1959, you can't use lead leger weights either! Steve

  6. Hi there, obviously you are sorted out now, all I would add is; make sure you learn to use the pole correctly. There are lots of bargains out there, but people try to use poles in ways that are not intended. Build up gradually to heavy carp fishing and remember to let the elastic do the work, keep the pole low to the water when playing fish. Most pole breakages are due to heavy handed useage, so take it steady and enjoy the experience of playing fish on the pole, it's not a race! Steve

  8. Hi there, thanks for the reply to my question about Bramley. Still hoping to find some old boys who may remember something, so if you bump into anyone on the bank let them know. To answer your question, we soft southerners find that on our local canal, putting down a bed of micro pellets and chopped worm will get the tincas going wild. To catch them, you just fish a whole or half dendro on the pole with say 0.16 line to a size 14 hook and 10 elastic on the pole. On this particular canal, it's important to get tight across to any cover and hold on tight, as the tench go to 8lb and the odd carp comes through as well. Good luck, Steve

  10. I'd have to back up what Derwent Bob wrote, especially as I write for 'Improve'. In my treks around fisheries, it has been mentioned several times, that an absolute beginners book would be a good idea, so I started writing one. So far, I'm struggling to find a publisher, but I would listen carefully to any offers of writing for a site if someone wanted. As an alternative, could I suggest you contact the NFA and contact your nearest coach for lessons.

  12. Does anyone know anything about this Leeds based club? I have information about them from 1885 to 1947, then nothing. Especially like to hear from ex-members. Thanks.
