Nick you know Rusty has only just left the priory rehab centre for pin addicts and then you tempt him with another one ,Take it the other one sold then?? Steve.
Ha ha, I think Rusty is mostly cured now so I hope this doesn't tip him over the edge again! Yep, other one is provisionally sold. I was thinking maybe £125 for the pin for those that are interested. N

For a sale is a J W Young Purist II 2031: http://www.jwyoungs.co.uk/puristii.htm
This is just the reel (no case or reel guard). Reel has never been used so is in excellent condition. There is a very small minor scratch on the back plate (so small it's not really viewable from the pictures below), apart from that could be new.
Looking for £120 posted (£115 collected) - price reduced

Ha ha, absolutely brilliant Rusty! N

A vote for powerpro here, started using the 10lb red version on my pin recently and so far it's been excellent. The red colour is easy to pick out and it's extremely low diameter. Line doesn't grate too badly either! N

I haven't been although I gather it's a wonderful place with fantastic fishing. I suggest you pose your question on Fly Fishing Forums - you will probably get a more informative response. N

Surely an informal get together of AN members who live in the area wouldn't be breaking the rules?! It's just the same as going fishing with your mates! N

Great fish Mike, well done! N

Dave, if you want to have a go for the Trout then I suggest learning to fly fish, there is no better way to catch a trout. On large lakes lure fishing is another option. Please DO NOT try hair rigging pellets to catch trout, it is likely to just end with the trout being deeply hooked. In fact any form of ledgering for Trout is likely to have the same result so urge you to try something different.
You are very lucky to have a wild trout water that had trout to 2lb. Please target them sensibly and return what you catch. On a separate note, I would be surprised if this water does not have specific rules on fishing methods etc so make sure you read up on those before fishing! N

Lovely fish Steve and good to see you on Friday. Clearly the mantra that Perch only feed in low light conditions is not always true! As Steve mentioned I caught two lovely Barbel (first of the season and first one in probably over a year) from the Thames on Saturday evening. They were both small, one around 1.5lb and the other 2lb. Rare to catch Barbel of that size but hopefully it's a good sign that they are spawning and breeding successfully. Also lost two good fish which I wasn't too happy about, especially not when the hook length snaps for no good reason (won't be using Reflo Powerline again!). Anyway, more details will be in my blog for those that are interested, may take me a few days to update it though!
p.s I would definitely have had a go for that Pike!

Well done Mike, amazing session! N

Having waders opens up a whole new world. If you want a good pair that will last for ages then look at the Daiwa and Ron Thompson neoprene waders. Mullarkeys do an excellent price on the Ron Thompson one's:

Neoprene waders are as tough as old boots but be warned, they are not good for walking any distance in as you sweat a LOT! N

Great fish and what a way to catch it, very well done! I'm hoping to catch my first Barbel on the pin this season. N

If there's a decent grass covering or some soft undergrowth etc there's no need to use a mat. Fish arn't that fragile, lets face it they rub themselves on rocks, roots and other underwater objects of their own accord. To me it's just a simple case of common sense, you don't put a fish on hard gravel or sun baked mud etc but grass or soft cover will do no damage whatsoever to a fish.
Well said, lets hope this silly argument gets left at that. N

Am I right in thinking that Pike was estimated at over 50lb!? Someone with better Italian may be able to shed some light...
An incredible fish though, shame about the captors face! N

Terrific fish Andrew! I would say that most of those were Brownies, the first two pics could be Sea Trout but if you regularly catch silvery trout then I would assume that there is a strain of Brown Trout in the river that are naturally quite silvery. The odd good sized silvery trout gets caught on the stretch of the Kennet I fish and a lot of people have said they are Sea Trout. It's also possible that they are Sea trout that managed to get upriver but then got landlocked I guess but hopefully someone more knowledgeable will provide further input. An interesting question though! N

Great report Anderoo, looks like fantastic fishing! N

I thought that tadpoles tend to mainly congregate in the margins and hence if your baits were placed away from the margins I doubt you would have had such a problem with tadpoles eating everything! N

The Rod Box is a well established fishing tackle shop (mainly game) that is already in Winchester. N

I would imagine that this will be shown on the Horse and Country online tv channel too. N
