Nash Amber Strawberry 10mm boilies are very good for tench and bream.
So i stopped using them haha

no phone your thinking of a spod rod. a feeder rod is the same thing as a quiver tip rod, tipping rod etc etc

That's a very nice looking fish, no wonder you cant help admiring it.
that row of scales went the whole length, from head to tail, i wish id got an angled pic!
-
hmmm it has a faint head similar to a death head moth but different wings and def a mink
yea it was too small to be an otter. He didnt care at all that we were there! And more importantly, i didnt care that he was there!

Hello I have one chair which suits for you, but I can't now to show you it. It has middle size, it is with seat-back and I can seat on it whole day it's checked. I'll try to send you photo or a name of model.
i have a JRC defender chair for river work/short sessions when i cant be arsed dragging a massive session chair about. Its well padded and pretty light but doesnt recline. It is at a comfortable-ish angle but when i want to recline a bit i just extended the front legs.
If you want an all out reclining, sprung foam mattress, session chair look at the JRC Cocoon Excel. Never sat on a more comfortable chair!

Good reading, thanks Denis. The groundbait mix sounds interesting! And of course i need to ask, do Tench taste good?

£15 for 3 rods for a night is cheap...

If Air dried/shelf lives get a slight bloom on them you can "wash" them then re boil them and re-dry them. The reason for the bloom is normally that they weren't properly dried out in the first place or have got damp or "sweated" in the container. No problems. However if they have started to actually "turn" (as freezer baits do so easily) then its not worth it just chuck em!
After all why spend all that money on a ticket, getting there, tackle etc and use second rate bait?
by a slight bloom do you mean the white stuff on the outisde? If so, yes this is what i mean. I had a bucket full the other week and was a bit gutted about chucking em, but knowing you wash them off and re freeze them is handy! Am i right in thinking the white stuff is the sugars coming out, like with oldish chocolate?

well ive been meaning to get back on the Severn for a while. Used to stay on a campsite just up river from Stourport and the fishing ace, caught a lot of decent perch on spinners and some nice barbel from around there so i may just take you up on that offer!
-
But did you manage your lure caught chub ?
If not, you only haVE TWO OR THREE WEEKS LEFT BEFORE THE FIST COLD SNAP TURNS THEM OFF LIKE A LIGHT.
no i didnt, ive caught a lot of chub, but none on a lure. I have however, lost the weight of a good chub in lures trying to catch one but at least the trees and bushes on the Goyt now have some decoration. I may give it ago tomorrow again as im going on the river anyway!

i agreed to work today, so here i am on AN!

at the risk of sounding like a tackle tart, i have two. Such a simple but great tool, especially when using filament to tie stiff rigs etc.
-
I can never tie a grinner without crinkling the line and I do wet the knot before I tighten it down. Mind you I've only used Daiwa Sensor in recent years so maybe it's a characteristic of that brand.
you know what Rusty, ive been having the same problems with 4lb & 6lb sensor, so much so that for the first time in a few years i am considering changing brand! I have also read somewhere else of people having problems with Sensor and that it seems to have lost the quality it had for a long time.
-
And me for swivels - I tie all my hooks as if they were spade ends - ie with a snell knot (least I think thats what its called!)
C.
I always use spade end hooks and even if fishing with an eyed hook, like Chris, i will tie it like a spade. Unless of course im carpin then its an eyed hooked tied with a knotless knot.
For general course i tend to stick to the drennan or kamasan stuff but it all in honesty i have never really given it much thought. Also, in all my time fishing i have never ever ever used a hook length. My hooks are all tied direct, and ive caught plenty of decent fish this way!
When carping i use a miriad of hooks for different situations or baits etc but most used are either Korda Wide Gape size 6 or Fox Arma Point long shanked.

good luck, make sure to get plenty of pictures!!!

Sean you are not seriously letting your choice of shelter be dictated by the size of your quiver?
ha yea only because im trying to lighten the load for short sessions. Rods and bivvy combined = winner to me!
-
No, we've been around this house before. Geographic differences and prominent anglers' different opinions make it hard to pin down. I know what it is and so that's what I'll do when I'm stret pegging, others know what it is too and they'll do something different.
best answer!
-
that would explain why it was only in the door area then and not in the actual shelter part.
any tips for combating condensation?
OR
does anyone know if a JRC STI X-Lite bivvy will fit in a jrc quiver?
-
yea the real **** thing is that in small groups you would **** all over em but on a weekend they "mob up" get **** and get lary. And i dont care how hard you are, 20 **** up 15 yr olds can do some damage!
Bait Runner Reel
in Coarse Fishing
Posted
I wouldnt use a baitrunner for feeder fishing apart from the method for carp or tench. Baitrunners are primarily carp reels for fishing ledger style tactics and bolt rigs with bite alarms. The idea being that the fish cant take the bait and run with it and sound the alarm.
For feeder fishing you dont want the fish to take line you want it to pull against the rod tip to give you indication that a fish is there.
What kind of feeder fishing are you planning on doing and for what fish?
