  1. Does any one else get this.

This year we've probabley had about 7 or 8 visits from door to door salesmen type people, all offering us cheaper energy bills? Obviously on commission they lie and say anything so you sign up to their billing agency.

Had one the night before last, he tried to walk through me and our door way (very pushy), really smarmy guy thought he was my best mate. "your intitle to 20-30% off your bill because the government have claimed your paying too much, just sign here..."

They all have these different official looking tables which claim they are cheaper then your current supplier tho never explain the hidden charges very well?

I told him i'd heard it all before and i won't sign anything.

I was Glad my girlfriend hadn't answered the door it was difficult getting rid of him, He was really persuasive and had a story for every thing!

Is this sort of door to door style contracting legal? and is there a way i can find out who is the really the cheapest supplier?

  3. That sounds like a weever!

Saw a girl stand on one when we were in norfolk. Foot went like ballon. I think when that happens your supposed to put it in the hottest water you can bare and then the coldest and then back in the hot. This brings out the poison.

I've heard that it numbs and paralyses your body as it travels in your blood

Lesser weevers are often mistaken for whiting on a dark beach, not good!

  4. I love light line spinning,

I manage to have a go at the weekend when my parents droped us on the south coast, didn't catch any thing. but find light line spinning much more fun then static fishing.

I use a super-whippy 6 foot rod, soft as anything and 6lb line.

Do you find you have to use a particularly heavy lure to cast with the heavieer line? What is your sea fishing set up?

I was toying with a 28g toby and a fairly heavy sinking lure which i think was called a terminator. I just picked them up in a shop coz they looked good. Are these suitable sea lures?

  5. Hype parks full of magpies too, probabley about 30 or 40 and squirrels, Which fight the magpies (only in Leeds!) I think squirrels are cool too. Would a kestrel or bird of prey kill a squirrel?

    Mally:

...By the way bretty, i know hyde park my best mate stays in the halls just across the road, isnt it supposed to have a bit of a male rape history?...

I heard that, but i think it's just to scare freshers. Mind you It's been closed of a few times due to muggings and rapes, and well every week the student newspaper has news of another mugging. This week 4 girls attacked a first year beat her up and tried to drag her away from the road... Nice place surrounded by half-way houses and heroin clinics. A bit of a no go area after dark :D Burglary capital or Europe apparently.

  9. I think we meant RSJ

Rolled Steel Joist. long bar with a cross-section like an I Used to hold up floors. Cut a metre section and weld 6inch nails perpendicular to it. Add rope and there you have it heavy duty rake.

  11. Hi all,

Now I don’t want you thinking I’m mental or anything but I just saw the coolest thing and I’ve got to share it...

I was just walking through Hyde Park, in Leeds (it's real grotty so when I say park I mean a little patch of Grass surrounded by road  ). Anyway I’m walking along day dreaming and noticed about 10m in front of me this filthy pigeon pecking at the ground.

Now I really hate pigeons and still daydreaming started thinking about how much fun it would be to shoot them all with an air rifle when suddenly this brown shape comes flying down out of the sky and slams into this pigeon, which seemed to bounce up into the air in a cloud of flailing wings and feathers and land right next to me. I then realised this brown shape was in fact a kestrel which was now perched on top of this pigeon with it’s claws clamped to this filthy black pigeon. It was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!!!! all right in front of me as if I wasn’t there.

I then carried on walking home to get some things and 20 minutes later walked back past the 2 birds on my way back to uni. The kestrel was still just sat there pulling the feathers out of this twitching pigeon while people walked past on either side of it totally unaware of it’s presence.

I thought I’d share that with you being an angler (when I get the time) I love seeing wildlife and this was the most surreal thing I’ve ever seen. I was just day dreaming thinking what a horrible bird then suddenly it just seemed to explode probably not 5 metres in front of me. The proud kestrel then just sat there looking at me as I admired it. Birds of prey are amazing and this Kestrel was probably the same size as this pigeon too! Awesome!

I really didn't expect to see something like that right in the middle of a city. to give you some idea. here is Hyde Park right in the middle of this map

  13. quote:

...advised that anglers can sleep whilst fishing.

    The key principles they will enforce are;

    · No angler must have their bivvy door closed

    · No angler must have their sleeping bag zipped up

Providing these two key points are adhered to we understand fishing whilst asleep is allowed.

Good call! I Think those rules should be imposed every where, I can never undo zips when i'm p..Drunk :D
