  1. Hi all, I've booked myself a weeks holiday in Weymouth in a fortnights time. I'm getting quite excited as I know there is some cracking fishing down there. I'd really appreciate it if any of you guys could help us out with whats catching at the moment and marks and methods. Though I haven't told the missus I'm taking the rods yet, I will be taking some light carp gear for the harbours as well as some beachcasters. Any info much appreciated, Cheers! [ 18. 2. Hi all, I'm also looking at getting across to the east coast sometime in the next few weeks, any idea whats catching where? I'm not sure where to go. As i'm based in Leeds anywhere from Whitby down to Spurn is just as easy to get to. Cheers! [ 31. March 2005, 04:54 PM: Message edited by: Bretty ]
  3. Hi all, I haven't posted on here for a while but have been lurking. Hopefully you guys are still an amazing well of knowlege. Anyway I bought the missus an H-reg 1litre polo a year ago. Recently it has started stalling even when warm and idles fairly irratically. This problem seems to be getting worst?! Any ideas what the problem could be? A friend tells me it is a common fault with the carburettor. What do you reckon? I just wanted a few opinions before I get stung by the local VW garage. Thanks in advance, [ 25. 4. I'm a local, been in Leeds over 5 years. I've lived in and would recommend Headingley and Hyde park. It's the 'youngest' part of leeds, rammed with students and plenty to do, buzzing. Most of North leeds is nice. Best avoid Chapeltown and and Harehills. [ 01. October 2004, 06:09 PM: Message edited by: Bretty ]
  5. I had this and like an idiot put in my login and password. When it asked for my card details it clicked that this was fraudulant so I quickly went onto the genuine ebay website and changed my password. So hopefully no harm done. Surely the source of these fraudulent emails can be traced?
  6. The Pier is quite good fishing, I've seen skate, bass and smoothies landed from the pier. It also has shoals of mullet milling around in the warmer months and mackrel and gar. It's a nice bit of coastline down there and from Chisel beach all the way across to Milford-on-sea I've never struggled to catch from the beach.

    RC aircraft?

Crash proof planes seem to be rising in popularity recently. (the purists don't like 'em tho ) Made from EPP (expanded polypropylene?) It's like a rubbery polystyrene, that doesn't dent or tear. You can hot wire burn it to shape then cover it in glassfibre and selotape. I fly mostly gliders and slope soarers. I have a Zagi combat wing which is polystyrene with an EPP leading edge you can't kill it but can spend hours trying to knock your friends out of the sky. I also have a couple of really light balsa planes I've built from kit (one a super cheap westwings Orion for £25) I've spent hours building, modding and repairing it but am never sure if i enjoy flying it or not. I always forget to breath as I concentrate really hard on flying it. It is awesome though and several times I've flown it till it's just a dot in the sky. Flyings fun landings are something else!
  8. Hi fellow sea anglers, I'm in sunny leeds and have been meaning to get across to the east coast with the rods. I usually only fish a couple of times a year usually on holiday (wales, cornwall, south coast and norfolk) I'd really like to know more about the sport available on the east coast so keep us posted! Tightlines! Bretty

    RC aircraft?

I'm into slope soarers and gliders, Got a couple of superlight crunchies, and some combat wings. Love it!
  10. Oh sorry, I'm in yorkshire! Newquay looks to be forecast rain/showers all week so i assumed it was raining. I've clearly lived in yorkshire too long.
  11. Cheers Fellas! Atleast if this rain keeps up the beaches will be free of holiday makers, though i may still catch the odd surfer! [ 18. June 2004, 09:56 AM: Message edited by: Bretty ]
  12. Hi all, I'm off to St Ives on holiday next week. Any idea whats catching where at the moment and what approach to take? I'll happily catch anything. I've got some carp rods and beachcasters, any advice much appreciated! Thanks in advance! [ 16. June 2004, 09:23 AM: Message edited by: Bretty ]
  13. Doesn't your missus complain having to ride that when you get the luxury of the car? Awesome! [ 15. June 2004, 11:32 AM: Message edited by: Bretty ]
  14. My 'home' in Sunny Brackley looks like it couldn't be much further from the sea, 100miles? here Easiest bit of coast to get to is bournemouth. I get to sea fish for one or two weeks of the year. In fact going to wales tomorrow for a week of sea fishing. Bretty [ 04. June 2004, 03:45 PM: Message edited by: Bretty ]
  15. Stanton Harcourt, head out of oxford on the whitney road, turn left at first roundabout you come to and it's sign posted from there. Look into it before you go, like i say it's been a while since i've been there but i love the place, weed beds, super clear water and climbing trees. Stoneacres is about 50acres, most people use a boat on there to find clear spots as it's pretty weedy and daunting, Christchurch is about 10acres? and a bit easier to fish.
  16. Don't go to either, got to linchhill and fish christchurch or Stoneacres!! A lot more pictureque and less commercial (so don't tell anyone ). My favouritest lakes in the whole world. Stacks of 20's and chance of upto 40lb. It's been about 4 years since I fished around Oxford (my homeland) but I doubt it's changed much. Bretty
  17. Thanks for the reply Dan! 9 days to go!!
  18. Hi all, Cheers for the help, I've invested in a brand new JRC Terry Hearn cocoon 3. Mail ordered due to arrive next week. I'll let you know what I think. Thank again!
  19. Must admit I was looking at the cheaper bedchairs. But i'm getting the impression the cheaper bedchairs are steel not Aluminium so considerably heavier. Is that right? I was hoping to spend less then £100. My last bedchair was a JRC, no padding and £140 when i got it. The only problem i had was the plastic ratchet on the back rest kept snapping. (£25 a time to replace). Have they made these any stronger? Cheers for the help so far!!
  20. Hi all, I'm currently looking round for a new bedchair. Any recommendations? Ideally not to pricey, with padding all round and possibley "3" legs would be nice. I'm not a tackle tart or slightly interested in brands, but would like a comfy one. What can i get for my money? Cheers! Bretty
  21. Hi all, It's that time of year again when I get to go sea fishing for a week. I'm going to Aberporth in Wales in about 3 weeks and wandered what the best approach is. If I remember rightly, it's a clean beach with rocky out crops to the sides. Whats the best approach off the rocks or on the sand? Float, Leger or spinning? Any advice for what species are about, bait and local tackle shops? Any good harbours or Estuaries nearby? Any help greatly appreciated!! Failing that any nice pubs in the area? Cheers!! Bretty
  22. I think the crayon one will be funny full screen in the office. I clicked the other box but nothing happened Bretty
  23. I just did a search for "house" to show a collegue that you really can find anything on ebay and came up with: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...09&category=317 Also saw this though which for me would be a dream purchase/project if in the south of england. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...2&category=1607 One day... 24. Hi Robbo, Do a search for bacton and/or norfolk on this forum. I've asked the same question several years running. Bactons a very shallow sandy clean beach. I generally use fresh lugworm and/or frozen sandeel and squid, all available from local tackle shops Cromer or North Walsham, You may need to order fresh bait in advance. I think the shop on the front at bacton may sell some bait? The tackle shops are usually helpful and will give you some pointers about where/whats catching. I seem to catch bass and flatties so I generally keep my hooks small, you don't need a big chuck. I don't know why but Trimingham towards cromer seems to fish well. I'd also recommend the lighthouse pub, good food and beer! Good luck! Bretty
  25. As an ex-carper I use my nash (spit) titan. Fantastic bit of kit!(There are a few on ebay at the mo ~£100) The best thing about them other then the rigidity and lack of guy ropes. Is they are really wide so you can recline on a bed/deck chair making watching the rod tips easy! Mines an old one with a removable spike at the back. I've replaced this with a 3' umbrella spike. With or without the storm poles on the front it's Solid as a rock! Any colour you like as long as its green. [ 16. February 2004, 05:02 PM: Message edited by: Bretty ]
