  1. I'll be at Yateleys south lake Friday midday for 24hrs. First visit there. Anyone else going then drop me a line. Gareth
  2. Planning a full weekender starting Friday but can not decide where to fish and want a fair chance of a few fish. Not fished any of the waters and the choice is now Linear fisheries namely St Jones, Yately's South Lake, Linch hill or Orchid/Dochester lagoon. Any of you going to one of the venues this weekend and what would you vote for ??? Gareth
  3. As far as curry fumes are concerned how about cutting a 12 inch square hole in the bag where you backside normall is and replacing it with some mesh from an old, washed out landing net. You could add some velcro along the top edge with another strip along what you normally wear to keep the "vent" lined up with your backside. BB
  4. Looking for a venue for a 24 maybe 48hr stint over a weekend early June around the M4 corridor. Not looking for a brace of thirties and just looking for a chance of a fish every few hours and 2 or 3 over 24hrs whether it be a double figure carp or the odd big bream. Not that I'll moan about a 30 !. Just don't realy want 24hrs without a run which is common where I fish mostly. My mate who I am going with has fished Whelford a few times but its likely to be rather busy on a June weekend (agree?). What thoughts are there on Longleats top lake, Orchid or would Dorchester lagoon be easier going. How about Shimano Linears Hunts corner or a bit further south Yateleys south lake? Any others ? Thanks for any suggestions. BB
  5. 2 runs....Sept 2000 and I was fishing a small local lake. Started at 9.00ish and not had a touch by 1.00. Fishing against an island about 50yds out. Had a run on the left rod and hit it. The fish kited to the right and there was a single beep on the other rod. Sudenly it turned into a run and I thought it was the fish snagging the line but then I realised it couldn't be the fish due to using back leads. Hit that fish and tried to decide which was bigger so stayed with the left hander and left the other rod on the bank with my right foot on the butt and the reel backwinding no snags in the lake. Got the first fish in the net and left it in the water with my left foot on the handle and picked up the right hand rod and ended up with two in the net. Not big fish one was 11lb odd and the other 10lb odd. Not another touch then until I packed up at 6. A couple of hours apart would have been much better to relieve the boredom !! Gareth
  6. Is there a shelf life on bait flaours such as those by Nash or Hutchy. Dont make my own bait very often so use mostly frozen baits as I'm a "part time" carper. Don't like the thought of throwing away nearly full bottles of flavour even if they are 2, 3 or even 4 years old. G.
