  1. Hi All. I am a newbie to this forum but certainly not to the world of fishing, being an experienced angler now for many years. My topic title is about what it says on the tin...And i wanted to start a conversation about it. After many years of Fishing rivers, canals, Lakes, Ponds I find myself becoming a bit of a wild man at heart, what i mean by this is i am so tired of being crammed in these DAY ticket venues. Of course over the years i have belonged to many clubs and won many course matches, done my carp fishing and caught some nice fish. But really what i now truly feel is creating an adventure fishing, being able to get out there and look for wild weirs and white waters were there is no one else around but you, nothing but the sunshine on your face and the sound of flowing water beneath your feet. When searching for these Weirs i tend to use ordnance survey maps that i decided to steal from my parents over the years ;-) (these maps are the most detailed maps you can buy) and of course they do show where all the weirs, locks, and pools are. However i have driven to many places on these adventures of mine over the years, sometimes to have great results, and other times finding it impossible to get down to the bank of natures wonderful creations ;-( . Wild fishing for me is something which i think has evolved over the years, Ive caught big fish in the strangest of places (sometimes even fish that arent even listed on the water!!) Packing your bags, rods, reels, tackle and bait to go on a fishing day ticket lake, or even belonging to a club is great and it is of course self comfort to know that the places are stocked of fish and that you have a flat bed of ground to stand, sit or lay on (should you wish) But the true adventure really starts when you take it upon yourself to explore the vast rivers, canals, even streams that nature created! right? Looking and taking time to find these places can of course be a pain in the a**, but when you do walk off the beaten track and hear flowing water and wild pools, this is truly (for me) where the adventure of fishing really begins! I would like to ask anyone out there if they have done much of the same thing, fishing for chub, barbel, wild carp etc....? What places would YOU recommend to me? have you found a little gem of a place in the middle of no where? Weir pools and fast flowing wild streams, rivers can of course be found throughout the UK, Some accessible, some not - this is why I would like to share (on a one to one basis or a wide collective basis) How ever you would prefer to share with me....? Im happy to share some of mine also ;-) Well i wont ramble on any more... I look forward to comments and suggestions... Tight lines...
