GF Bite Alarms

Ha ha price, well I am very aware of the GF brand being value for money so I am trying to keep it as low as possible. I am aiming for 3 head units and the receiver for under £150, that is the plan anyway.... Will keep you all informed though.

Hi All, Just wanted to keep you all up to date on progress on the wireless GF Bite Alarm system. I have tried to incorporate as many suggestions that were posted on this thread as possible, but obviously can't do everything whilst maintaining a very competitive end price to the customer. I am about 80% through development and testing and hope to have first production units available in the new year, I want to make sure everything is absolutely right before release. The system has the following functionality:- 1) Tone, volume & 2 sensitivity settings as per GFs model 2) Receiver for upto 4 head units 3) Drop Back indicator incorporated in head unit for Predator fishing which also works with receiver 4) Low battery warning on head units & receiver 5) Still working on bigger sensing wheel which I know many of you want 6) Wireless range upto 100m (deliberately done as I feel being any further away when fishing is irresponable) Appearence wise they will look exactly like the GFs & GFx currently on sale as if it aint broke don't fix it, although I am looking at the on/off switch and changing it slightly so when you put the cover on it can't be accidently switched on. Hi STC, I probably won't be making a dongle type wireless system, it will be new head units and receiver. Glad you like the existing rang and hope you may be interested in the wireless once it is designed.

Many thanks to you all for taking the time to reply, like I said I will look at each and every suggestion, and try to implement as many as possible whilst maintaining the value for money that GF is known for. Keep posting if you have any further thoughts!! I will keep you upto date on progress and may well be looking for anglers to 'performance test' the alarms on the bank and give feedback.

I will not be trying to match them as the majority are cheap alarms manufactured in China and are not good quality. I will be trying to produce a very high quality product but for a reasonable cost. Thanks all for your input to this thread.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply could I get some further opinion on some of the points raised:- 1) Sensitivity - Are you happy with the GFs dual sensitivity or would you prefer more options as found on Delkims etc 2) Bigger sensing wheel noted 3) Battery low level warning - I presume you would want this on head units and receiver unit? 4) I will be honest now and say I am only designing the system to function at a max range of about 50 metres, do people see this as an issue as I would say you should not be further than that from your rods anyway. 5) Could people give me an honest appraisal of where they would like the price to be for lets say 3 head units & 1 Receiver. I am desperatly trying to offer these to people at the lowest possible price but obviously the technology in these units does cost more than the GFs/GFx units unless I buy the components from China which I refuse to do. Just to let you know on timescales, I would hope to have working prototypes for testing within about 3-4 months, but I do want to rigourously test them before going to my customers. Newt} Hi All, As most of you are aware I purchased the GF Bite Alarms business from Jeff last year when he was retiring, and have been making the GFs & GFx since. I have begun development of a wireless system which has been requested by a number of existing customers. I thought as I am still in the early stages I should ask all of you, my potential customers for feedback on the following topics:- 1) What functionality would you ideally like to see on an alarm whether it has been done before or not. 2) What price range would you like to see the GF wireless system at ( please bear in mind this is fully UK manufactured so I will not be trying to compete with Chinese made systems!!) I will be striving for the same high quality that has always been associated with the GF Brand. Many Thanks Phil
