  1. ok, first of all i'm not trolling. second thanks to all of you for your reply's, it really was an innocent question, i seriously underestimated the amount of protest from other anglers. i think you'll be glad to know i've decided not to take any fish to eat. but thanks for the recipes anyway but i still don't understand the full protest, i now see your point of view, but, according to the law (providing the web page posted was accurate) you can take 15 fish up to 20cm for bait yet you guys (and gal) believe its wrong to take them for personal consumption. so, the reason i'm confused is, why it would be wrong to take a few under 20cm for the pan. surely 2 of them on a plate with chips wouldn't be too bad oh, and when i said i cant exactly ask them permission (council), i didn't mean i COULDN'T i just meant i would doubt they would take it seriously or care enough to reply.
  2. sorry i didnt notice the second page the reason i havent added my personnal info is because it wont let me. i am new to this forum and it says You are not allowed to use this part of the board. maube it will stay that way untill i have passed the 16 post checking period IDK.
  3. hi, thanks for the replys, i am english and live in england for whoever asked, ive just never concidered this so dont know the laws, the question was asked out of curiosity more than anything. sorry i wasnt more specific, i have never taken a fish before, not even for bait, but... well i cant remember what put the idea in to my head about taking one for consumption, but most other countries that i can think of dont have a problem with you taking them, i think i also remember reading that the US and australia have introduced the UK species in to their waters. and in the US they are specifically named on menus at resaraunts. anyway the waters i was talking about are council owned, what are the rules regarding taking fish from there? the link posted (thanks) said 'If there is no obvious owner to ask for permission, you are not allowed to remove any fish.' well i know the owner is, the council, but i cant exactly write to them to ask permission. and yes i see the fish is bigger than the one i caught, ok i dont measure and wieght them, when i catch a decent sized one i just use my hands as a rough measure( to keep a mental image), so if you can imagine an adults hands (large) and point your fingers together and overlap your middle fingernails (from end of hand to end of other hand) that was the size of the biggest perch i caught. ... just got a tape measure out its about 36cm. again im quite a newbie so dont know what a good size of certain species are. thanks again
  4. hi, OP here, so does someone want to tell me why perch are such a strange subject, ive read up on it and although people seem uneasy with eating them, the people that do say they are delicious which is why i decided on perch.. anyway, janet (i think it was) this isnt a joke. if anyone has other recommendations i would be happy to receive them. i also chose perch because i catch a lot of them also roach if that would be a more appetizing subject for you i would expect there are generalizations about cleaning and preparing most coarse fish. can anyone help with that? thanks
  5. hi, just registered here, hoping to learn a few tips and tricks from the greats.
