  1. Hi Sid

Sorry if my post has caused you to take offence. It was never my intention. Hopefully Bob can put your mind at rest re; forthcoming regs for England & Wales

I'm not offended. I just thought Bob was offering somthing impotent to anglers but now I think he is just bickering with others.

I was interestd in helping if I could but now I think I will just go fishing when I can.

  2. Good morning Davey

Don’t tell me you miss me so much you have found the need to come over here for a chat lol

First up I have not replied to you ref your apology to me on WSF thus far as my access has been restricted while my official complaint is investigated.

With regard Pat Carling I can tell you that he had his case reviewed in October, sorry I have no link as my info comes direct from his legal team and it was deemed that he has a case to answer and as stated that is due to go to court in February. As I’m involved in this case it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time, I’m sure you will understand.

With regard the second point re Scotland, again as stated I’m all ears and regret the Hadrian wall remark will do little to assist Scottish RSA. One would have thought you might have been able to offer something constructive, indeed I believe you are just the chap who could quite likely help.

Seems to me that this is more about you having grudge about this sandtiger than caring about angling.

I dont care about that. I just want to know if someone is going to stop me fish in 2011?.

I think we should all be supporting Bob not picking holes in what he is doing. If the new Org is helping skippers like Pat. Lovely boat, must have cost a fortune.

  4. Blow me down, weymouth is my favorite port, boat fishing, boat fishing and a bit of boat fishing. Clems a good one and Chris, Paul Whittall is mine. Never fished with Pat yet, tried a few times, but weather interferes.. Top end of the channel folkestone, brighton, west country, paighton, brixham along with a few others, so i do know a fair few skippers.

What about your seasons, when's the best fishing for you and what sort of fish floats your boat. Regards to you.

I like wrecking mainly. Pollock in spring and bass and cod later on. Brighton too far to drive. Been with Pat twice. Hasn't he got rid of his boat?.

  5. Hiyer Sid mate, where you based, what sea fishing do you do, boat, shore etc. What ports and skippers etc. Looking forward to a chat. :)

    Hi Barry

I'm based in Brum. I dont get to do too much fishing as it is a long way away and the journey takes it out of me. I normally go south, sometimes Weymouth or exmouth or Torquay. I like differant boats most times, in last 3 yearsHave been on Wild Frontier Tiger lily Blue Thunder Rose Ann Anne clare Channel Cheiftain and

Boat fishing for me don't want to drive all that way to stand on a beach.

    What about you?

  6. Hi Sid

Hope you won’t be offended but I note you’re new to anglers.net and you should be aware that we are a very open and transparent community here. You have given very little information about your self, so perhaps you could fill in your profile fully so we can know a little more about you. One can’t be too careful about those with whom we communicate with on the internet.

    Regards and tight lines Bob

    Hello Bob,

I'm not offened but it does sound a bit cloak and dagger?

I don't know what you mean though, what is my profile and where do I find it?.

  7. Good morning Sid good to hear from you again.

To answer your question about any high profile folk from the angling fraternity getting involved, to be perfectly honest no one has come forward as yet. As you are probably aware the AT has been heavily criticised for so long that many might well be reluctant to take up the challenge. I asked time and again on some of the forums for some one to set up an alternative org until it became clear the only way forward was to try and put something together myself.

The basic idea is simple and should address the failings of the past where RSA representatives who have been on the old sea fisheries committees have had a loan voice and found it difficult to know if there views actually reflected the majority of anglers let alone having any thing more than there own word with regard the strength anglers as a stakeholder group.

Knowing the passion many have for the sport and as the realisation of the effects of the Marine bill as they start to emerge then I 'am confident that this idea might just be what is needed and thereby attract folk from every level of the sport.

With regard the flack the less said about that the better it comes from a small section of RSA/commercials and while it may seem important to themselves it is insignificant in the grand order of things and has been mostly personal rather than finding fault in the idea.

    Good Morning Bob,

Sad that the VIP's aren't coming forward. Do you think you should approach some of them?, I rekon with someone like Matt Hayes (Total Fishing on Quest channel) you would get everyone attention.

I'm excited to see the website, when do you think it will be ready?.

I don't know much about angling politics but you've got me worried, what is this marine bill going to do?.

I've never used a intenet forum before but everyone seems very nice here, sorrry to hear they aren't all like that. What are you doing are you ignoring them or is there some way you could shut them up?.

So when I join you will explain what the issues are and then we will be able to vote on what to do?.

I think we need someone to stop fishing boats netting all the fish.

  8. it depends what its turning, an 8 to 1 turning a big marlin reel will wind in a hell of a lot more than something the size of a 7ht ;)

I think it was one of their medium size ones MX, jx something like that

  9. I thought that would be the answer :) :)

There was/is a claim being repeated of an american casting over 200yds in the 1930's, this is the one I seriously doubt :)

I used to cast with a guy (the first Sec and one of the founders of the UKSF) and he was sponsored by the importers of Alvey side casters. Never saw him hit 200, but he def got a few around the 180 mark. Of course, he may have improved after I left the casting scene...............

    Den

I do all of my fishing from boats so have no casting experience. How do you guys know how far a cast is - is it guesswork based on experience or is there a method?.

    Thanks

    Sid

  10. Excellent day worms its a year or two since i have seen so many cod in double in figures on one wreck one or two of those lads have fished forover 30 years and like myself fished through the very big days but this was an aye opener after the first 30 minutes i though bloody hell the lads have some cracking fish here but they just kept coming and coming.

The uptiding yesterday showed all signs of good winter ahead so fingers crossed.

    paul.

and they say there are no cod left!

  11. you forgot a 3rd option in entry 1"paint dry"

you forgot a 3rd option in entry 2 "a girl"

i cant stand any fishing program :D

He is rubbish but sky+ it and fast forward through the Robson is a jovial Geordie section to the 5 mins of fish catching at it is worth watching for the fish and the amazing locations.

  12. i tried one in the late 60's with limited success (unless you collected birds nests) i then last year bought a 7HT which i found surprisingly easy to cast (even easier i bet with your mag brakes) unfortunately now the reels are so damn small the retrieve takes ages so i sold it and went back to fixed spool.

what we need is a multiplier with a hoofing great gearwheel that retrieves as fast as a fixed spool.

i can retrieve and bait and recast and settle the fixed spooled rod faster than that poxy 7ht with my hands in a blur still reeling in :(

Saw an Avet for sale a little while ago with 8:1 retrieve - wonder if that would do the trick?.

  13. ive been on a few trips before and paid some decent money as well but they always just end up bein gloryifed mackerel trips or reelin up dogfish after dogfish....we even rented a whole boat from holyhead this year for £400 only to be taken closer to shore that the bloody marina was where we caught dogfish all day and never went further than the harbour wall.....

can anyone recommend, not just decent, but a boat i get out on with a real chance of catching a proper fish (preferably on the west coast, north wales, north west england etc)! Where are all the big pollack, cod, ling etc? where should i go guys!

Another thought is that most busy ports have a 'star skipper' or two, e.g. Shy Torque or Sea Otter out of Whitby, Tiger Lilly or Channel Chieftain out of Weymouth, Silver Spray or True Blue out of Poole, White Waters out of Milford Haven ... and so on.

Whilst other boats might be good and preferred by some, you aren't likely to get ripped off if you choose one of those top boats.

personal reccomendations and trip reports are worth their weight in gold.

Charter boats uk website has a useful 5 star rating system.

Other than that good signs would be a boat with lots of bookings, one that keeps it's website up to date with good catches. Have a good chat with the skipper before booking, see if he knows his stuff. Get him to tell you what he plans to do that day. if he tells you that he is going to steam out 30 miles and in reality drops anchor after a mile I think you have a good argument for withholding payment due to breach of contract.

  15. Hi Sid and thanks for the interest, at present it is all meetings and getting the web site set up.

We are negotiating with independent orgs to see fair play re voting so every thing is transparent and setting up a fair means of policing the debates so as not to get the type of flack we have on another platform, but that’s a different story.

With luck we should be up and running soon and you can be sure you will here about it here.

    Hi Bob,

Thanks very much for the reply, it sounds like things are going really well for you guys. Good luck with the meetings, sounds like high powered stuff, are there really important people from the world of angling involved?.

Sorry to hear you've been getting flack, what kind of stuff?, is it the Angling Trust website you mean?.

  16. Many thanks to you Brian for your support, sorry I have taken a while in responding but I have been away from home this past week dealing with a family funeral.

I would welcome any one wishing to help me get this idea off the ground as I honestly believe RSA needs a new voice, my biggest fear is that I personally am probably not articulate enough to lead an org but at present there seems no one else prepared to jump in the ring.

Hopefully in just a few weeks there will be the launch of the org web site along with a set of basic rules and some idea of where I would like to see it go; ultimately it will be for those who join to decide the future which is what RSA lack at present.

    Good Morning,

I agree with Brian. This is just what us RSA's need - one voice to represent us all.

I'm sure you can do it Bob, your posts on here seem very articulate.

Are you going to post regular updates on here as the plan develops?. In fact, i'd love to here how things are progressing right now.

    keep up the good work.

    Sid
