Thanks for your replies. I did put the bung in the open section and cut the excess but there was hardly any left! According to the instructions on the back of the packet, the bung has to be pushed into the section and around 2 inches of the stick left out, this would never be possible.Probably need to shop around for another bung I think.

Yes, I know that however I don't think you are meant to cut the stick part are you?

Folks, I have just recently purchased a margin pole and I am in the process of setting it up. I have noticed that the second top section which I'm told I have to put the bung in, is still pretty narrow. Does anyone know if there are narrower bungs on the market or am I being extremely thick here and missing something obvious? I bought a couple of Preston Innovation Pulla Bungs but after trying to fit one I am of the opinion that it is far too thick for the section and when cut to fit right there will be nothing left! You can probably tell I am a novice when it ocmes to the poles so any help would be greatly apprecited.

Hiya folks, I am new to the forum having just taken up fishing again last year following many years away for different reasons. I fished most of last summer at my local fishery Broom Fisheries, Annan and had quite a bit of success with float fishing sweetcorn, meat etc and later by using the method and cage feeders. Nothing massive but some nice carp (by my standards) up to about 8-9lb. I fancy having a go at fishing on the surface for carp this summer however don't really have a cule what the best set up would be i.e float, hooklength etc... Could anyone suggest a simple set-up for me as I would really like to have a go at this later in the year. Cheers
