  1. I sometimes think that the folk who prefer to deal with machines rather than people, have underlying issues with society/relationships. They seem to want to live their lives in some 'cyber world' where instead of facing up to real people, they can just log off for a while. Me? I'm proud to be a bit of a Luddite/technophobe, I prefer face to face contact with real flesh and blood people. I prefer something concrete and tactile, like a piece of paper, that can't be hacked, lost maybe if I'm not careful, but not changed without my knowledge. I prefer a less artificial world, not one where I pretend to be someone else battling monsters in some pretend universe concocted in the mind of some sad little person, who struggles to exist in this one.

I suppose it's like those who cast a bait into a greatly overstocked pond, and pretend that it's fishing/angling.

Not all change is good change, either for the the system that's been changed, or those that are forced to use it.

    But, each to their own.

    John.

the issue isn't the tech...its the idiots who don't know how to use it or who cant be bothered to understand the changes put in place. regardless of whether its been put in place for good reasons or not!

the fact is, in this situation, as with the Tax disc situation, the change will occur and we have to deal with it.

but if you stick your head in the sand and don't try to understand it, then it will bite you, very hard, in the arse!

my point isn't about the tech or over reliance on it etc

my point is that we have a society that now choose to blame everybody else apart from ourselves!

we see it health and safety, we see it accident claims, we see it where people are too fekking dumb to realise someone on the end of the phone telling them their pc has a virus is scamming them out of money!

I catch Watchdog and suchlike occasionally and truly, honestly wonder how some people make it through the day without cutting their own heads off with a tin opener!! let alone being allowed out in public!!

im fine with not trusting tech...im fine with being cautious and having tangible bits and bobs etc etc

what im not fine with is people laying the blame firmly in systems or other people when the rules, the instructions, the logical steps to follow, are laid out in clear black and white for all to read and understand!

as for my DD for car tax...far as I can tell...by reading about it....you stop one car, get a refund if youre entitled and start another. the fact I pay monthly might just mean I lose out on a months payment if I change halfway through the month...which is no different at all to if I had changed with a tax disc!!

as for preferring tech to people? last time I looked my pc wont stab be in the back or **** me over for some money! that's always something a person will do!! they might use tech to do it; but in the end its the persons fault!

do I have trouble socialising? yep

ive met the public...scary bunch!! (as no doubt I am to them)

as for the over stocked pond analogy:

I wouldn't fish in a over stocked pond and then write to the owner complaining I caught to much either!!

in the same way if im too stupid to read something and understand it, or learn how to use it, or take care online, or keep my passwords safe then I have nobody to blame but myself!

  2. (this isn't aimed at you Chesters! :))

    damn this technology!

    its like witchcraft!

burn the witches for trying to be different! burn them all!

or....maybe lets move with the times and actually start not carrying around a piece of ****ing paper everywhere!

also, as far as im aware, the last change wasn't a balls up either!

im happily paying my tax by DD each month and its making life a hell of a lot easier instead of having that large bill to sort out every 6 months or year!

the ones that have been caught out; as our media so love to thrust down our throats; are those that:

a: didn't read anything about the new system

b: stuck their heads up their arses and thought "it didn't effect them"

c: couldn't be bothered to sort it out before hand

    d: all of the above!!

(and before anyone quotes the "millions" in double tax gained by our ever scheming government; show me one bit of evidence that proves its not a cock up by the people involved! because every one ive read has been " jonny the plank didn't realise he would be paying twice because he's a bloody prat who can barely read!!)

same as everything...new system comes in to play...some arse much cant be bothered to follow what it involves then blames the system when it goes horribly wrong!

take it to Watchdog or something! that's programs full of idiots who cant read what is in front of them!!

"i was scammed by a funny sounding foreigner over the phone because he told me my daughter was kidnapped on holiday in Bulgaria! at the time she was sitting next to me on the sofa..but I gave them my bank details anyway!!"

time that people in this country started taking responsibility for their own fekkin stupidity instead of laying the blame on everyone else!

Yes our government is full of monkey grabbing buttholes that only care about themselves...but hey! WE KNOW THAT!! all the more reason to understand their ways and be sure you do what you need to!

  3. No worries mate:

its our clubs own water here in sunny Fakenham!

its a membership or day ticket water with a good head of carp (double figure and smaller), bream, tench, roach, rudd and perch, a few crucians and apparently at least one bloody good sized eel!

the lake is called Willsmore and is situated just on the edge of Fakenham.

  4. I rarely fish all day and to be honest I'm probably really lazy with my hook changes!

If I fish an evening I'll usually cut the hook off and put it back in the packet. Maybe that's four hours fishing with 4 carp on a size 12/14.

I do always check the hooks I'm tying on though and if I'm not happy with them I won't use them

Running joke amongst the family is that during a session at least one of us will stab ourselves with a hook and follow up with the phrase:

    "Ouch! Hooks sharp! "

Obviously if I snag up or bend the hook then it's discarded and I'll discard if I hook a branch etc or twigfish

  5. in most instances abroad: certainly tourist dives: the fish will gave been fed and gotten quite used to divers and linked them with food.

on less common dives most fish don't recognise divers as dangerous. so they will be a but more cautious but will still get fairly close if your slow and steady.

during my diving training at Gildenburgh waters I came across pike and roach, and they were not hugely spooked at all by our presence. Gildenburgh is heavily dived though and the fish, especially the pike, are quite used to divers getting up close!

there are some great pictures above the bar at Gildenburgh!

as for wild lake diving in the Uk then most fish are easily spooked but there are not many good visibility lakes where you can freely dive because of the fishing/ sporting pressure!

  6. My son is using a new laptop which doesn't have Word. I have an old Office Home and Student 2007 disc in the drawer, and I think it was installed on a now defunct computer, so I am wondering if he can use it to save spending £100. 2 queries:

How can I check that this product key is not in use on either of the other computers in the house?

If I'm right that it is on a dead computer, can it be used again?

It's only since office 2010 that Ms activation will properly count your code usage and tell you if the product is activated too many times!

However, in the same way as windows, you can scam the system and phone activate any number of times with no issue whatsoever.

Legally, if a computer is completely destroyed etc then you can reuse the licence on a new system

If you want to check codes in use on the other systems head here:

And download and run the Advisor software; it will tell you all the serials on your system.

yep! lure young girlies into your office to have your wicked way with them! that's fine and dandy!

have a scuffle because your slightly **** off? BURN THE WITCH!!!

[/quoteWhat would happen to you if you had a scuffle with a work colleague because you were slightly **** off?

im not 100% sure; it would depend on how slight the scuffle was!

  8. Clarkson thinks he is above the law or he wouldnt have clipped his fellow work colleague at work you expect to get hammered for it its not the done thing hitting somebody at work is gross misconduct the BBC couldnt do anything else he created a no win situation for them,to keep him on it would be a free for all in the workplace at the BBC they had no other options there is a saying you arent bigger than the show but lets just wait and see.

  9. oh I think the bbc had to do something!

in the end he has crossed the line one too many times.

the media around the incident has ranged from a punch to a scuffle to "handbags".

was it a punch? was it a smack in the face? dead arm? scuffle? shove?

all the lines he has "crossed" have been technically authorised by the producers and the bbc! the slope incident; the number plate; the 12345 comment... all filmed, edited and left in the footage! in essence authorised and approved by the Beeb or its employees!

    yet he takes the flack?

rumour mill is that Clarkson might sign with Netflix! and May has virtually stated that the three of them operate so well together that it's almost hinting where Clarkson goes the others will follow!

Top Gear made by Netflix? no pc bullshit??

count me in all the way!!

  10. cheers Phone;

yeah I keep up with all that. Being a Microsoft tester and all! :)

Spartan isn't too bad at all so far. But then again ive never personally had issues with IE and ive used it almost exclusively; only recently using Chrome as well because of the fact we now run a Google domain here at the school. Even then my primary browser is still IE.

I think people will receive Windows 10 a bit better than they did Windows 8.

There was nothing technically wrong with 8 or 8.1; both are damn fine OS but of course it was change...a miss step to force people through the metro interface and BAM!

if peoples first encounter with something is clunky and they don't like it, you have hell and all trouble trying to win them back!

so MS is doing right by wiping the slate and starting fresh.

and from what ive seen and played with; they are doing a damn fine job of it!
