  1. Another natural way would be to shoot a few rabbits and hang them up over the water. The maggots will then fall into the water where the fish will, I'm sure, be waiting. Someone, though, once told me that this might encourage botulism. It worked OK for my carp and rudd and they seemed to stay around the same place for years afterwards. Jim Roper
  2. As the water drops through the summer and the sun becomes stronger, the shallower parts of my old pond become covered with arrow-head weed. Would Grass Carp keep this under control?? There is no river access to or from the pond. See you all on September 22nd http://www.march-info.org Jim Roper www.searchlineuk.com

  4. I recently dug some new ponds and have been slowly catching the fish in the original pond and transferring everything under 5 lb to the new ponds. To make up for the lack of natural food in the new ponds, I have been throwing the contents of a corned beef tin into the shallows each day towards evening. Within a few minutes the water is 'boiling'. I have not tried corned beef as a hook bait but suspect that it would be difficult to keep on the hook in warm weather. Perhaps the fatty bits would stay on better. See you all on September 22nd http://www.march-info.org Jim Roper www.searchlineuk.com

  10. Perhaps you could do it the natural way and intruduce some prey fish for them to eat. The few rudd we put into my ponds seem to breed like billyo. If you want some, you are welcome to come and catch a few hundred (subject to movement licence of course). 12. Starlings are OK but you must pull their heads off to bleed them as soon as they are killed, or they taste bitter. See you all on September 22nd http://www.march-info.org Jim Roper http://www.searchlineuk.com/FishList.htm

  18. It might be worth a try if you can get to it with some chalk. I know of a lake near here that was full of brown trout until an estate worker put some carp in. The water is so dirty now that it's difficult to see anything. A few years ago one person caught 47 brownies in an evening fly session. It was only fed by a small ditch but the brownies used to spaun up it on a few gravel beds. Perhaps you could tip some chalk in as high up your stream as possible and then some gravel further down for them to spaun in. I'm sure someone reading this will know the correct size gravel to choose. Hope this discussion up up to Op -JB's intellectual standards. Virus

Now download a free 30 day copy of Norton AV 2002 from symantec, go back to their site and update the virus definitions and run it. Quarantine everything that it can't fix and delete the infected files if appropriate. See you all on September 22nd http://www.march-info.org Jim Roper http://www.searchlineuk.com/FishList.htm P.S. If you save a copy of the items in your address book in a text file or by taking screen shots, you could delete all the address book entries and then you won't be passing the virus on!! 24. What do you mean by 'visual items'?? If you have several seperate items on a word page, try holding down the Shift key and clicking on each in turn to select them all. Then go to the drawing toolbar and find Group from the Draw menu. This will 'group' all the items together (believe it or not). With the whole group selected as one, press Ctrl+C to copy it. Open up a graphics package such as Paint from Accessories and paste the group (Ctrl+V). Save the file and you can then send it in so that we can all see what you are talking about.
