  1. Hi Jade, You should be able to get a decent rod and reel for £70. I would recomend a rod that has 2 different top sections. One that is a standard Avon top section for float fishing, and the other that has a built in quiver tip for feeder fishing. But as some of the other members mentioned there is a lot of other equipment you will need such as, landing net, unhooking mat etc... I have been using this website http://www.poingdestres.co.uk/ Up until recently they were letting customers buy tackle on 9 months interest free, but now I think they charge just 5% interest ov a maximum of 9 months. This would allow you to buy some slighty better gear and get fully equipped. Hope this helps, and tight lines...
  2. Hi Dave, if you wanna buy a new reel then I'd recommend somthing like the Shimano Alvivo 3000 you can pick one up new for £21 or less, and they now do a shallow spool version for float fishing! I have a cheap shimanao a sahara I think was about £30 6 or 7 years ago still works perfectly and I have had my rigs in plenty of trees! lol
  3. Thanks Terry, Andrew, Bonzo... I'll give those clubs a look, use to be a member of Vauxhalls but wasn't impressed when I went to sharnbrook! Tingrith was lots of fun but doesn't allow guest tickets o couldn't take my brother (Mat). I have been looking at a carp place called Tall Trees Carp Fishery, has anyone had any experience at this venue?
  4. Hi guys thanks for all the replies, sorry have not replied earlier! I have been busy with work, thought if I work my arse of during the winter a few sick days for fishing in the summer will go unnoticed! :-) I did use to be a member of Vauxhalls but found the complex at sharnbrook and the rive could have been looked after a little better! Though fishing Tingrith Manor lake is a lot of fun, most fish under 10lbs but they are such animals! Great sport on my Bob James Centerpin. Would love to find a nice local stretch of river on day ticket that is actually fishable rather than being full of weed at the first sign of some sun!
  5. Hi guys, I'm new to the forum, my names Russell I'm the little brother of Mad Mat Hillman. Was just wondering if anyone knows of any places for good general course fisheries in Bedfordshire preferably ones still with a chance of a 20lb+ Carp?
