Wigan's website is http://www.wigandaa.org.uk.
Just for information, they have never had Balderstone - it was Northern AA, then Warrington, now some salmon fishermen (and Preston Centre don't exist any more).
Yeah sorry mis read the title thought it said Warington

My personal fav baite for Carp is double corn ,allways seems to work. But often use Pinapple boilie or source boilie.Had a good bit of luck on Halibut as well but they seem to be fizzing out.
-
i can't i live in Scotland and am going to fish the Ribble.Don't think they do them on the bank any more....?
Just to let you know incase you didn't allready they no longer have Baldstone only have hurst green i think it is,witch there isn't many fishable decent pegs on .
-
Skillz there to get a 32lb Carp in on 2lb line i'd struggle to get that in on 6/8 lb line never mind 2 my hat goes of to you.
As all ready people have already said,it will be wise to step your line up to at least 6lb preferably 8/10 or higher.
-
Cheers for that, why didn't you renew they have some good waters my mate.
Yeah they do have some good waters but i found there was to many idiots on there waters and litter seemed to be a really problem ,also losing the Ribble at Baldstone was the final nail in the head.

I'd really like to catch a few Baramundi from Australia ,they seem really fun allso like the look of Vundu and big, Sword fish .Only ever been to island on a fishing a fishing holiday going to try and get over the Ebro at the start of October depending on work etc.

its a 3m pole but it has grips at the end like a rod. its very thick at the end so very large carp can be bullied on it. whilst tested a 29lb carp was caught. it is supposed to cut out the need of quickly putting on more pole sections. the pole comes ready elasticated with a new brand of elastic which is very thick. the pole will take up to 15lb line without th pole snapping before the line. apparently it will also be for carp anglers as its so strong. the price will be £86.
Hmmmmmmm sounds a bit like a long broom stick to me, looking fwd to seeing a pic of it.

I never bothered to renew my Warington card this season due to litter/idiot problams on the bank.If your fishing sandyway i'd advice you to go round with a marker float and tryed to find a clear patch in the weed as it's full of it.

-
Nice fish but you don't look happy at all.
-
Stillwater chub are often more predatory than their river cousins. I've had a lot of success in the past with deadbaits, especially whitebait. Indeed, the first article I ever got paid on was entitled "Chub on Whitebait". Unlike freshwater deadbaits whitebait are very unlikely to attract perch. The only downside is that carp adore them!
You can buy whitebait cheaply from your local fishmonger at about £2 per/lb. The individually blast-frozen ones are the ones to go for, rather than the blocks. The latter contain whitebait that are on the small side, plus when thawed out they're rather soft and don't stay on the hook that well.
The blast-frozen ones are typically about 3 inches long, and I use them still frozen on a size 8 hook, hooking them in through an eye and out through the top of the head.
Yeah i agree with Steve on one of are club waters there is lots of Chub of a very large size(Record could easily come from here one day) but they are never caught ,they are on a 100% fish diet.
Steve thanks for the tip on Whitebait ,just an extension to your advice would you please answer this?witch end would you recommend hooking them tail or eye?

I use the Flyweight ones, they are made by reubon heaton. Very reliable and very similar to the Avons.
You can pick these up for less than £20 if you shop about. Not my favourite place Ebay but worth a look.
I also use these very good and reliable indeed, highly recommend by me anyway .

cheese is a bait i've neglegted for years, maybe to my cost
pellets, meat and the humble maggot have served me well
I can't catch anything but Chub on cheese then again i only have ever targeted Chub on cheese, will give it a go for Barbel this year.
P.s
with regards to my first post with Elips pellets, they don't work on still waters at all, well not for me anyway and there not the cheapest baits in the world.
-
Elips pellets can't be beaten, also worth a try are Halibut pellets(21mm) and Source boilies also if you can get throw the small stuff a big 2oz feeder full of maggots and hemp with a size 10 hook with as many maggots as you can fit onit always works on big rivers.,going to give them Korda maggot clips ago on the rivers this year,on still waters dureing the closed season all they have caught is nothing just come in with very very chewed maggots every time and no idication of a bight.
-
Cheers for that skipper.
-
I'd be up for this depending on venue(traveling distance) ,the Teme would be great one it's of my fav rivers that i haven't fished in years as well.

Barbel 10lb plus :looking for a 12
Chub 7lb plus(lake):Hard but a club water does hold them very hard to catch they have switched onto a all fish dieat and dead/live course baits are not allowed.(p.s ive yet to catch one)
Chub 6lb plus(river): had a few at six allwys nice to see them.
Catfish anysize-Failled everytime so far
Carp 19.3lb -Not sure if ill do this one is probally the easyest as well i surpose would like a 23lb plus tho.
Bream 10.8 -had one at 10.8 the other day so is very possiable again
Tench 8.2lb plus -Very good chance club water holds a few and bigger and they are my fav species would like a 9 be over the moon with a 10.
Roach 2lb-Should do this one i hope
Not the easyest but all are achivable ,i'll be happy if i make 3 of them.Well ill be happy if i dont break any as it's not all about the size for me .

With a couple of our AN guys doing their GCSE's at the moment, may I suggest there's no earthly reason why there shouldn't be a GCSE in angling. Basic syllabus would be easy - equipment, species, waters, baits, techniques, maybe some 'ethics' thrown in ... and some practical sessions
At 'A' level it could get more demanding. Sample exam questions :
1) The close season - discuss in not more than 500 posts. (Edit - that should be words)
2) Carp as livebait, and the International implications. What is your view?
3) Discuss the role of coarse fish in a healthy 21st century diet. What are the best seasonings?
4) Outline the role of electronics in modern coarse angling, avoiding sexual references (abusive or derogatory remarks will be penalised).
5) Describe at least 3 useful techniques for removing tangles in braided line. Illustrate where possible with line drawings.
any more exam questions you can think of?
It wouldn't work but you can use it in certain skools as part of you're GCSE P.E criteria i wanted to do it but the awarding body the skool i was using wouldn't allow some do though.

2lb maybe 2.8 be surprised if heaveyer.Nice fish though

What can I say except . I am still coming down from cloud nine. any tench is great but a lake record is just phenominal.
Wingham is such a lovely, magical place which just mesmorizes me and I suspect all who go there. It would not be that without the tireless work by Steve and the gang, including of course Peggy and you would just not believe the amount of work they have all put in over the last couple of months to bring the fish-in together.
Steve certainly put me on the fish with three tench on Saturday of 6.01, 9.13, 7.03, and another 7.03 on Sunday. The first three coming to maggot over PVA of deads and pellet and the fourth to worm over deads pva. Pics are below and a special thank you to who ever it was (sorry,I'm terrible with names and faces) who took the 9-13 photo, you did a great job
Here are the pics in order: Apologies for delay, I am just a dummy with computers
That a be are Paul(Paul Mc).

It ain't all about size. There's a whole lot more that's important - my most memorable 2 carp are the very first one I caught (a 4lb leather) and the only ever carp I caught from a 200 acre water, a fair bit bigger than the other one but it isn't the weight that's important.
Rob.
Most memoriable is one i caught at cudmoore 15lb on maggot on 3lb line and little match picker rod when i was 12 happy days.
