  1. Thank god im not the only one!!

cows scare the c**p out of me too, and bulls, well me and my mate went to check out this perfeck little fishing spot, to get to it we had to walk down a track about three foot wide beside the river, after getting about a quater of a mile down we found our swims so we turned around and set off back to the car to get the gear, as we turned a corner what was staring at us, A F****** GREAT BULL horns an all

We both froze, after ten minutes it started walking toward us so we very quickly climed the nearest tree, he found this quite amusing as he stayed at the bottom of it for about three hours then very slowly decided to walk the way we wanted to go, so we followed (from a great distance) untill we could jump a ditch into the next field and make our escape

Five hours later we were back at the car where we met a farmer who had been watching from his farm the whole time and found it highly amusing.

We never did fish that day!!!

This is first i have heard of your lake and it sounds pretty good.

i'm mainly into pike fishing but i have wanted to target a few cats for some time, this also sounds like the pefect place to take my girlfriend as it would be nice for her to catch reasonabe size fish before i let her loose on the pike.

I have a few questions first though.

Does the cat lake get very full because it is about a 45 min drive to you and i dont fancy turning up and not being able to fish?

If i wish to bivvy up do i have to book?

Are the cats feeding this time of year?

try to go with someone who knows what they are doing, trying to unhook your first pike is a daunting experience.

do as peter says and check out the pac site, read ALL the tips on there.

please do not go thinking you will cope because you won't, pike are one of the most delacate species of fish and care must be taken at all times always use a unhooking mat as i have seen people trying to un-hook pike laying on stones and gravel and when they thrash they really thrash about i of course intervened and showed him the right way to do it.

I didn't un-hook my first ten pike i went with a good friend who has been fishing for them for years and just watched and learnt.

I dont want to seem to be having a go at you but the preservation of the pike should be top of your list especially if you want to carry on fishing for them

  4. Me and my mate are going to fritton lake at the weekend and just wondered if anyone has fished there before.

we have only ever fished it once in the summer and only had one each the biggest being 8lbs.

if anyone could give me some tips on some good spots and baits i will be very gratefull

  5. Thanks for the reply

i have been toying with the idea of going to waveney valley for a while and perhaps i will.

But i am going to give brooke untill the end of the season to show me its potential.

its a shame about the live bait but i will respect the fishery rules and abstain from breaking them.

if you have fished the lake yourself i would be gratefull for any pike tacticts that work on the lake or if you know of anywhere else local where the piking is good i will be a happy man

  6. Does anyone fish brooke pit nr bungay because i have just moved into the area and it is only 10 mins drive away.

I have read in anglers mail that there are pike in there to 20lb

i have only fished the lake once and blanked but spoke to the man who collects the money and he said that what the mail says is about right BUT after speaking to locals i have been told that pike are vertually non exsistant in the lake and id be better fishing in my bath

I am not going to dissmiss the lake and will continue to go there until the end of the season but some feedback from pikers who have fished the lake would be greatly appreciated

  7. Does anyone know what the lake is fishing like at the moment.

i went to check it out at the weekend and there was a hell of a lot of duck weed on the surface and i want to know if this affects the fishing in any way.

I would have asked around but there wasnt anyone about which in itself is a bit worrying
