  1. http://www.rcfishingworld.com/index.html ok its basically something that attaches to a RC boat and allows you to either fish for little things from it or take your line or bait out to where ever you want. i was thinking it would be ideal for fishing far away or if your using a spinner for pike, ideal to take it where ever you want, changing direction etc what do you think?
  2. ok i will do that but im going fishing early tomrrow and hoping to catch a carp. what can i look for on a carp that will mean i know its a carp as i dont want to be unsure or pleased with myself only to be told later that its bream :/ what can i look for? thanks ben
  3. ok thanks all for your responce. Barry-im hoping to get my dad to come with me fishing at some point-hes never been! cant imagine him being much help teaching me which are which. the main thing i need to know is how to recognise a carp, i am going tomorrow and want to know imidiately if whats in the net is the carp i have been searching haha what are the key things that i can use to make sure its a carp? i know there mouths are very distinctive because of the way they feed, is there anything else? ben
  4. ok, coarse fishing, how do you recognise all the fish you catch? i reckon the teeth on pike will give it away and roach have red fins, i think i could recognise carp and bream but i would never be quite sure. what do you use to recognise them? what are the distinguishing features? ben
  5. what is the lightest breaking strain i can get away with? i have some 1.5 lb line and some 3lb line which i was using last season for the really lil stuff (the odd roach or bream) but would a carp break that? what are maggots like for carp? i have always had this theory that where you see people fishing with very little experience (me included) they are always using maggots and throwing handfuls in every other second. i always get vissions of carp just sitting under their rig, eating all the maggots from the bottom when they sink down and therefore get used to feeding on maggots without getting hooked? what do you think? in terms of the float rig for the carp, how far from the bottom do you think i should be fishing? ben
  6. ok so if i just use a float, what am i doing? -----main line------shot--float--shot------------shot--------------shot------hook---hair rig??
  7. only? atleast you have i have yet to cast a pike rig out.. wont be long 2lb carp is pretty small any advances?
  8. ok thank you all very much, i will keep it all in mind. although im a complete novice to carp fishing i have done a bit last year on the canal, just need to renew my licence (my local canal is fishable all year round apart from a certain part but even that is open at the moment). i think i will get everything i need for a chod rig, set that up with a bite alarm and bobbin and keep and eye on the bobbin and be ready to strike if the bite alarm sounds and then use my second rod for general fishing, line, float and hook with a maggot. see what i get in terms of a couple of roach or bream so i dont get frustrated if theres nothing from the carp rig. thanks again ben
  9. been doing a bit of reading recently about carp and pike fishing and everywhere i look is people boasting their biggest catch. what i want to know is, whats the smalles pike and carp you have ever caught? not interested in the biggest-that could be another post (although im sure it already is) ben
  10. just out of interest.. why arent you allowed to use artificial baits? why would it matter?
  11. thank you both very much,i think i will try the chod rig im going to go to a car boot sale and see what i can get, anything i cant get there il go the local tackle shop. what kind of thing should i be looking for in terms of where i fish from? i know there is an old barge that i could get to? bridges? i have no idea what im looking for :/ i guess i could also ask the baliff? ben
  12. hi, im looking to go fishing at the weekend, targeting carp at the local canal, i want to try out ledgering. i have a rod and 18lbs line, im hoping to get a bite alarm and bobbin, a 9lbs tracer (maybe braided if i can get it, is it worth it?) and then on to the rig. i dont really know what to do for this, the bottom of the canal is very silty so the rig need to be able to cope with that, so i was looking at popup boilies so they dont sink. any sugestions interms of a rig? and any other equipment i need to take with me apart from my disgorger? also what size and type of hook do you recomend? im going to try the hair rig. thanks very much in advance ben
