  1. Hi All The match went ahead on Friday night with the weather turning out better than forcast. The weather that Met checK had been giving was rain and lots of it with the wind dropping in strength to what it had been during the day. I had been warned that the fishing from this mark had not been very good compared to what it is normally like for this time of year but the odd pouting and rockling had been putting an appearence in of late. New member Gareth Rees aka ZZiplexmad took an early lead with a double shot first cast which meant that everybody was going to have to work for their money. I managed to take a pouting first cast as well but it was no where as near as big as either of Gareth's so I was going to have to struggle on. Up untill the last cast there were another 2 pouting caught by my work mate Eddie Downing which boy oh boy was I starting to sweat as I could be getting a bit of stick in work with Eddie beating me .Thankfully I had a pouting last cast which put me into 1st place ahead of Gareth. This match was a catch and release match with all fish counting. The match was decided on the total length of your catch The results stood as follows 1st Paul Thomas 42cm 2nd Gareth Rees 39cm 3rd Edward Downing 37cm If anybody else would want more details on the WFSA Personal Members please email me on paul@goangling.co.uk Regards Paul

  3. Hi All Can some clarify how to set up a lead head please. eg if you have a lead head that is 2oz and you were planning to use a lead of 10oz would you need to scale this down to 8oz. how does the leadhead effect the lures movement. thanks for your help Paul
  4. A total of 11 members fished the match at the Lambies last night which was pegged from the stile back down towards Cardiff. This was the third league match of the year. The placing's were :- 1st Paul Thomas From Penarth Peg 03 1.308kg with 9 fish 2nd John Pearson From Cardiff Peg 10 0.882kg 3rd Kevin Taylor From St Athan Peg 16 0.838kg The prize largest silver eel caught was 0.558kg caught by John Pearson (Cardiff). Most anglers used a three hooked rig and had a rag, lug and crab as bait After this round the top 3 anglers in the league are:- 1st Colin Ambury Llanharan 2nd (Joint) Paul Thomas (Penarth) and Chris Garner (Penarth)
  5. Hi All There is a WFSA personal members match at the Lambies (Cardiff) this Saturday evening. If anybody wants anymore info they can catch me on Tomowales@penarth14.freeserve.co.uk Thanks Paul
  6. Hi Mate I would not look at the Tip Tornado sport. It is ok for some rough ground marks but only just copes on the rough ground marks that I fish around the South Wales coast. I myself would look at the Kompressors first as they took over from the Vectra. You may want to look at the new version of the Nemisis road that Coneflex brought out but i have not tried or heard of anyone testing this rod yet so I can not report about the new version. When I say rough ground areas that we fish you can go through 20 leads using rotten botton and thats not including the rigs aswell if you have a bad day. But I do think that if you are using the Tip Tornado you will be wasting your time for rough ground. I am not saying the rod is rubbish as its my second rod but you use a too l for a purpose and its got to be the right tool hope this helps Paul
