  1. On tuesday i went fishing with my brother, he has taught me a lot about fishing and i enjoy it very much, he has always made a point of drilling it into me not to leave my rod in the water if i,m not at my swim because a fish can pull it in, i did as he said but always thought could this really be. Well on tuesday i saw it for myself, we sat there fishing all was well and my brother decided to eat his pork pie, and to my amazment his rod just shot off his rod stand (which was attached to his chair) at such a speed i cudnt believe my eyes, rod and reel just vanished. For the first few seconds we sat there in shock, but as luck would have it he fished the bottom of the lake with a rod and a spinner and got his rod back including the culprit that took it, i now have proof of what he said to be true, and from now on keep my hand on my rod at all times, i consider him to be very lucky that day not to be minus a rod and brand new reel.

    weather

hi i am waiting for the weather to improve, cant wait to go fishing again, i think the fish bite and feed more when the sun is shining, i really want to catch some crucian carp, but not sure whether to use maggots or would they prefere luncheon meat?

  10. i went fishing on sat 31st march, whilst i was there i was advised by another angler to use pellets as ground bait to entice the fish into my swim, although i appreciated his advice, i have to say i have caught 28 fish carp and others without ground bait, seems to me that if the fish arent feeding no matter how much bait you chuck in they wont bite, and all this pellets and stuff cost money makes the hobbie more expensive, i mainly use maggots and/or luncheon meat, i am also happy to catch small fry lets here your views ......sheila

  16. i i have been to a few fishing ponds and i am sometimes amazed at what people leave behind, i have seen lids off of tins of sweetcorn, old fishing line and plkastic bottles, there are notices up asking people to take their litter home with them. i sometimes wonder can they read or are they just plain ignorant. On a lighter note i must say, that i have found that people who go fishing are so friendly, i once went fishing and started to set up my rod only to find i hadnt got my landing net pole, a man who was there took one out of his holdall and gave me a pole, he told me i could keep it, i thought that was very kind i wonder if anyone feels as i do Tight lines ......sheila
  17. hi davedave thanx for your advice, i went fishing last sunday it was a gorgeous day, and caoght 28 fish roach, baby carp. etc i used maggots for bait. in my opinion you cant beat maggots any time of the year ,i also got the hang of using my disgauger for the first time so i can do everything now without being shown, all i need now is more experience which i,m sure i will get during the next few months thanx again i will remember what you said when i next go ......sheila
