thanx for help m8 if ive understood the workings correctly i tink ive meanded my prob. on the main gear there is a spring lever , ratchet mechanizm. on my reel the end of the lever was a bit worn so if set it a bit higher / more open , now it engages the other half of the spindle. with the winder held tight if i turn my winder cup anti clockwise there are several clicks ( just like on my 506) then turn clockwise to unscrew and it locks and then unscrews as i say if ive undersood it all correctly think i was barking up wrong tree re. the bush cuz u cant tighten the star wheel anymore with the bushing removed . thanx again for help try to get the cp abit smoother now, i washed it in degeaser to clean of the grease - that desolved the nasty black paint so it looks a bit different now. tom when will my post be posted straight away ????
  2. i agree with most pionts above , most fishermen are more aware of fish care then ever before , BUT is there really any excuse / reason good enough to sack a fish ? the shame is that allot of modern fishermen believe that all 'good ' modern comercials should have 100lb of fish in every peg ! not many fisheries will sustain this year round , but they would fish well . this certainly is not natural stocking levels . with the amount of fish care products avaliable in most good tackle shops these days we have no excuse not to show our quaries the respect that it deserves, and most of us do so . only my opinion tom

i've stripped and cleaned the abu , there was alot of grease on the clutch discs . washed in petrol , what should i lube it with ? just dabs of machine oil / light oil ? leave clutch dry . grease only the teath of the gears ? lovely shiney bits inside , well made aren't they .
  4. i was going to recomend the peacock !!! had mine for years , love it stays hot for 24 hrs . my burner thingy looking thinner ? not sure if its not as hot as used to be , got me wonderin now thanx .

  6. hi i've used the ESK boots for years , i like them some honest comments to hot in summer they do sweat , u will get damp feet if u r active all day . then gotta put by the radiator to dry ready for the next day , (or the wood burner in my case ) good grip fron the esk boot , one of the others , poss tay ?? has a use less sole / tread patern , i spent more time on my bum .! only fit for the bin ! compare the treads , the esk is the good one. bad one looks like a quad tyre pattern. vibram soles are very good too. as warm / comfy as any welly can be , poss le' chammies r better ? but too expensive for me. only real fault is the sweating / damp , my use farming shooting fishing i have bought meindl s boots which are very gd , and i really like , but a bit dear er .!!!!! if i re bought me wellies id prob by mucks again , if im poppin out to walk the dogs it the mucks every time . only my thoughts ... hope this helps

i dair not tell what i paid then as i tink i'll be banned the brass ( i think ) tube in side the the winder on the 505 has a slight flange at the spring end . prob only .5 mm is this stopping the spring clamping up fully to increase tension , or suppose to be there ? it will only fit one way around due to the flange . so were saying damp with oil not soaking wet ?/ need some friction to transmit drive ? i agree shame about the orid paint on the pin , i've managed to get the spring / lever thingy freed off so i can remove the drum, but some thing is dragging / binding . i had lubed with a smeer of molly slip tho to be honest so think i'll have to clean it again .i think that were the clip holds the drum to the shaft is rubbing ? drum internal is 1 " / 4 " do i measure the drum external or just were the line sits ? which is 2 1/2 " says WR SPEEDIA FISHING TACKLE PRODUCTS on the back dont think its smooth / free enough at the moment for trotting . tom

thanx all success both spools removed , i was tightening them , oopps . the red one was harder to un screw , had to jam the pinion . that reel is stiffer to turn and the clutch cant be locked up , even with star wheel tight , still slips a bit . the clutch on the black one can be set tighter and is a smother reel. dont know much about the CP . bought them on a carboot last weekend. seemed to cheep to leave thanx again .
