  1. Hi everyone, long time observer, first time poster! I just need a little pointing in the right direction here ... I've been fishing for about 2 years now and always used waggler, feeder or ledger. But I've decided to take the plunge and have a go at pole fishing and looking to buy my first margin pole (based almost exlusively on cost!) Now, the two I've narrowed it down to are around £40 on fleabay, and they are the Middy White Knuckle 6m and Maver Abyss X 9.5m. From what I can see, the Middy includes a spare top kit, both kits are elasticated and has a few rigs thrown in. The Maver, although much longer, is pretty much as is. Being a pole noob, am I going to see any advantage from the extra length of the Maver or best getting a feel of pole fishing with the shorter Middy first? The sort of fish I target are pretty much 'anything that swims' but I like to get good carp and barbel (say 5-15lb) in the margins as a bonus! Also, having no other pole-orientated equipment, is there anything else I need to consider (without breaking the bank)? Thanks guys, and keep up the great work here!
