  1. My two surveys are now closed. Thanks for all those who contributed. The Welsh Sustainable Fisheries Project is still underway, for updates and details on how to contact the team or how to contribute, please visit our website.. In addition, here is a very early preliminary output derived from the (still underway) biological sampling. From a personal perspective, I hope this will perhaps bring the colourful discussion down a notch or two by contrasting what the real project outputs will be, against the really high level policy and management centric points of contention being discussed!
  2. Good afternoon, sorry not had chance to contribute to this fast moving thread, i'm currently in the middle of writing up what results I have got for this small bit of the study. Hope to be able to give some feedback in about a month and a 1/2 and would also hope to be able to respond to some of the opinions expressed. It is important to us that we address any concerns, hopefully even if individuals have issue with contributing to the fisheries data, then they can perceive a value in getting involved with economic surveys. There is also some data coming out of the biological sample work headed by Giulia which we shall also make available - this will help give a very clear idea to anglers what the data outputs will look like. Good to know that people at least feel very strongly about their fishing and the fish they fish for!
  3. BASS are providing us with their capture data, and reports are being considered. It is important that we have as many datasets as possible from different sources to be able to detect and hopefully quantify bias (bias here is a technical survey term and shouldnt be taken as an insult!). As an example, it is likely that forum reports are highly biased to over reporting catches (within the 'posting angler' forum population) as people are less likely to report blanks and are more likely to report specimen fish than little schoolies.
  4. Thanks to all who completed the questionnaires and sorry for not being a regular visitor and missing the previous posts. The responses to questions, which I would of thought Barry had already seen, provide a rubuttal to his previous posts, hence I will say no more on the subject and let readers critically appriase the our statement and answers (posted on WSF) here. This is hosted on my webspace as the original posts requires WSF membership to view. The diary and Welsh sustainable fisheries project feedback surveys have 61 and 31 respondents respectively. Though these will be closing at the end of this week, the sustainable fisheries project as a whole is still running and the collection of biological samples is still very much in progress. In addition a round of economic interviews will be starting shortly. thank you all.
  5. Just an update, currently on 42 completed surveys for the Diary feedback and 20 for the Sustainable Fisheries Project feedback survey. Target for both is 100 completed surveys - this assures some reliability to the results so would be great if some others could take the time to complete. The diary questionnaire is particularly relevant.
  6. Ahh doh, thanks for letting me know, request against this post then please.
  7. Bangor University are running an EFF funded project Sustainable Use of Fisheries Resources in Welsh Waters. As part of this we are looking into developing an online angling diary, but we want to know what anglers would expect in a diary application and also if there is enough interested to make it viable. It should be noted that the diary would be extended to anglers outside of Wales. As such I would be grateful if you could complete the following online survey: Recreational Sea Angling Diary Application Survey A quick getout option is available, so that you can let us know you have no interest in an online diary, which will only take 10 seconds to complete. Some of you may of seen the various threads on worldseafishing forum about the Sustainable Fisheries Project. If you would like to express an opinion on the project then there is another online survey here: Bangor University Sustainable Fisheries in Wales Recreational Angling Engagement Survey Once again there is a quick option to let us know you have no interest, however please only participate if you do fish in Wales, either as a visitor or a resident. If anyone would like additional information then do not hesitate to PM me on. thank you. Graham
