  1. visit this page on CARPSAVA's website and scroll down to "line aligner" http://www.geocities.com/carpsava/businessend.html
  2. I've been fishing my favorite spot and caught fish at a distance during spawning season. But never thought of dropping a line at the bank. Many times large fish swim by my feet or are crashing against the weeds a few yards from where I am fishing. Will carp feed/bite while spawning? If so, what method rig etc. would you use to catch them?
  3. look here http://www.catchmorecarp.com/cmc/howto/howto.htm http://www.marinews.com/pages.php -dragoncarp
  4. I just took my first crack at a website for carp fishing. Please visit and tell me what you think.......any suggestions? I see there are some fellow Americans in this forum and am particularly interested in any other USA carp fishing sites you may know of. (no disrespect to our UK friends, you have lots of wonderful sites that are easy to find) http://www.geocities.com/imdpmim/dragoncarp.html
  5. A little culture/language gap here I see. Let me explain. A lot of us here in the US (at least here in central Illinois) refer to our fishing rod or rod and reel combo as a “fishing pole” or “pole” for short. As in “grab your pole and let’s go fishin’” As far as using rod pods or bank sticks, most of the places I fish are man made lakes and have large rocks along the banks. The only way to secure a “rod” is to wedge it between a few rocks. A lot of times while waiting for carp to bite, I will work the bank fishing for panfish and get several yards from my “rod” and need the alarm so I don’t lose a fish or my “rod”. In other cases, I will fish from a dock in a Marina area and the only way to secure the “rod” is to wedge it between boards on the dock, most times when fishing this area it is after dark and I need an alarm. Up until now I have been using “jingle bells” attached to the end of my “rod” but they are annoying and not always reliable. Thanks to all who have replied so far, Newt I ordered the bite alarms you suggested from Bass Pro I saw the Mitchell Reel chesters1 mentioned at a local fishing show and it’s on my Christmas list. I will be checking out the link singy sent for the one from Fox this weekend. The “on rod” unit Woodzzz mentions is exactly what I am looking for but more than I am willing to pay. I also found a bite alarm that is designed for ice fishing that I think I can use. -dave
  6. I am looking for a good bite alarm that I can attach directly to my pole. I do a lot of fishing in areas where rod pods are not an option. Fox has such an alarm but to my knowledge it is not available in the US ( Wacker doesn't carry it) Does anyone know where I can find such an alarm? Does anyone know anything about the one Fox makes? -dave
  7. I am planning a trip to Southern Illionois this weekend to do some carp fishing while my brothers hunt deer. I must admit I haven't done much carping in the late fall or winter. The temp has been and will be anywhere from 30F to 55F. I don't know about the water temp. Does anyone have any tips on late fall/winter carping and where to find the big ones! -dave
